stunt man t
push bike trials came from motorbike trials having to practise on push bikes rather then motorbikes montessa started it on motorbikes then montessa made monty etc etc thats why monty is the original bike trials brand http://www.malcolmrathmellsport.com/monty_history.htm I always thought trials originated from motorbike trials The stuff in clean has absolutely nothing to do with the roots of bike trials. dngr2self
so why sheep? And how does everyone feel about boats vs trains..? This is also topical.. That sums this thread up perfectly. I would be sad if this subject stopped cropping up once a month though. i like cunning stunts
Sorry to go completely off topic here, only just read through the rest of the thread. Heres where the trials we ride originally began - Thought people might like the history lesson Think everyone knows biketrials originated from moto trials the point I was getting at was how the first proper trials bike looked / rode. Watch all the old monty vids it was very streety / spinny stuff. Edited December 31, 2012 by i like cunning stunts
dezmtber
Didn't Mr monty build the 1st modified trials bike/bmx for his son to practice with him. And then a few more for his freinds then so on took it became a new sport and Mr monty himself rode one to train. That's what I thought? Mr montesa motorbike
PaRtZ
Street and natural riding have always had a segragation among the trials community. That is a fact. Another fact is there are riders who hate natural riding and riders who hate street riding. As mentioned street riders are usually 'bred' as a result of accessibility - The street is on most peoples doorstep while a decent natty riding spot isnt always close for everyone. In my own naivity I forget this regularly, as I take stunning natural spots such as lake ogwen for granted as Im so close to it. Due to this convienience of street (and the likes of danny mac) Id say the vast majority of trials riders in the UK are solely street riders. Whilst this doesn't matter or mean anything as you shouldn't care what others ride, it is a shame when people who actually have the chance to ride some great natural spots choose not to for convienience. It is their choice to, but I can still find/still shown new riding spots in ogwen after 8 years. To me street is just convienience. I can have just as much fun in either setting, but would probably prefer the quiet surrounds of a natural setting where Im not hassled by CSO's every 20 minutes. customrider-Rhys
ive recently started doing both, built up a brake-less mod and the idea is to ride that on occasions to get away from the inch hunting tgs and pure riding, kind off to stop me getting bored, improve a few skills, re light my trials flame when its getting low and have a laugh! its working but i would'nt change to brake less all the time but i do enjoy the challange and the flow, just as a fun bit on occasions, other wise i love my pure bike riding rocks and stuff
