Why not 18:15?

Heaviest I ever used was 17:15. I just don't like heavy ratios, light ratios make the bike feel lighter and you need more speed than strength to get things done. Plus run-up distances are a lot shorter. Hooks and big taps are obviously more difficult, but that's what short cranks are for :)

Get bigger legs. Ride faster. I used to use 16:13 on stock, couldn't stand anything lighter. :P

Yeah but you're slightly unusual so that doesn't count :P Used to ride 18:18 and I'll admit that was too light. 18:17 isn't.

Anyway, my goal is to repeat every move in this video by the 10th of June. It's been 5 years and I've been going backwards since. Would struggle with almost every single one now :( Need to get my motivation up badly or I can see myself quitting this sport for real.

Nope, my friend pulled out and decided squash was more fun :( I'm in too bad shape to start again, we always practice in pairs and if you can't keep up with your partner, your wasting his time. I'd feel bad ruining someone's evening. The solution is to start over with someone who's equally unfit and already knows how to fight but such a person is difficult to find :P
