Uni so far so good! At 3rd day so far I spent 6x as much on drinks as on food, but my food bills are fairly low, like £5 per day

Also, I tried cooking today, £3 bag of mixed seafood, 37p garlic bread, some cheese and olives with jalapeno, and it turned out to be amazing, and surprisingly large portion!

Cannot wait the course to start though

This time last year my grandmother was diagnosed as being around 25% old and 75% cancer. There were half a dozen times that they didn't think she'd make it through the night, and she underwent so much horribly intrusive surgery that they pretty much removed half her insides, without the good grace to upgrade her internals to adamantium/similar, and it was all a complete nightmare. Shes been unable to use her hands properly for 12 months and the chemo has been so brutal that it nearly ended her, resulting in them cutting it down to ~15% of the normal dose, evidently not ideal and we were told that as a result it probably wouldn't have a massive effect.

Today she saw the consultant and was given the all clear. None of us were expecting it at all, given how harsh things have been. Genuinely stunned and so amazed by it all. So so happy!

Stop tagging each other with bullshit and appreciate this.

Thats fantastic Luke, really really good. The chemo is unbearable to watch, my dad's lost loads of uses of his hands but he's getting by. Really really pleased for you mate, fantastic news.

Why not do both @Tom Booth?

Great news @Luke Rainbird – I completely missed that post while TF was down, and I imagine quite a few others did too. The big C is getting smaller and smaller, and it's great to hear more success stories. My father in law went through it all the year before last and came through the other side too, so I can imagine a little of the relief you're feeling!

Thanks gents . As you say, Tom, it's heartbreaking to watch someone go through it, watching it destroying the person you have known your whole life, but stick with them and do everything you can to get them through it. I know I'm incredibly lucky that she's pulled through so well despite there being times it wasn't looking likely, but hopefully you'll get some good news soon too. Fingers crossed for you and if you ever want to chat/vent/rant about things then you know where to find me :)

Didn't extend our hostel in time, there are no rooms left, as of tomorrow we were going to be technically homeless.

Today one of the house shares we looked at said yes to us so I won't be living in a hostel anymore :D and it comes with a king size bed!

Today at work (bike shop) there was a single speed bike chucked in the bin because the customer wasn't willing to spend the cost of repairs on it, so I have a new bike. So far I've made one good brake out of two shagged ones, straightened the wheels and greased the hubs, just needs a new tube and I'm good to go
