MadManMike
My insurance was £489 this year (Down from £1400 two years ago, yay for new drivers, even if they're over 30...) I'm hoping mine will drop significantly in January. Another NCB and another year older...
Wrayvon
Car insurance for £400! sick Just did a check on mine to see what it'll be at my new house - goes up 250!? God dammit it's only about 2 miles away from where I am now! Edited September 10, 2015 by Wrayvon
J.KYDD
Have insurance prices gone up generally recently? I've recently sold the van I've owned for the last 4 years and bought a very boring/sensible 2005 Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi Estate (105bhp). When I called my insurace company to swap the vehicles they said they'd be able to give me an idea of what my renewal will be (November). Despite the fact I'm now 25, and have 5years protected no claims the price is actually more. The Mrs got her renewal quote through the door the other day too, and hers has only dropped by £1! Despite also now being 25 and having another year no-claims. Obviously both of us are going to now shop around, but in previous years with the same company I've always experienced nice steady drops in the price? Pete.M
Have insurance prices gone up generally recently? I wondered that as well. My prices seem to be about £100 or so higher than last year.
dann2707
Yeah my renewal was £250 more despite everything being the same. And an extra no claims bonus. They tried to tell me really sneakily too. Had to really search my documents for this new price. Absolute c unts

OlegTinkov
Saw tonight, what I believe was a Eurofighter Typhoon - absolutely awesome!! Was over head for about 15 minutes, carried out some serious maneuvers and huge loops. Never seen a fighter jet going anything like as quick, and was all over a remote part of the Highlands
Pete.M
On the other hand, it's quite annoying when you live in the Highlands and have to put up with the fighter jets roaring around like it's their playground.
OlegTinkov
Aye it sure can be, compared to back in the day when the tornado base was fully operational it's not nearly so bad now, the constant low flying practice just about taking the tops of trees every other day was tiresome. Tonight on the contrary, it was a good few miles high at the top!
Jolfa
Have insurance prices gone up generally recently? Renewal talk I haven't once (in the last 5 years at least) received a renewal letter with a price lower than the previous year, always £10-200 higher than the previous year. If you phone them up and say wtf then they always drop the price considerably. I guess they make a lot of money out of people who don't pay attention, assume that the renewal quote is the best deal and let it roll over. Muel
Sub £200 insurance club anyone? On my bike, yes, £120 TPFT. Car was £800 TPFT. First year of car insurance, 5th year of bike with 4 years NCB though, which might explain it...
Mark W
Another one for the "More expensive every year" crew. Going on for 6 years NCB, no points, no convictions, etc. - up every time. The only reason it dropped this time was because I put my sister on my car as a named driver. f**king racketeering bullshit...
JD™
Just activated my fibre connection at home. 32 vs around 1.1 mbps. Wedding anniversary tomorrow and wife wanted to stay home this morning before we head to London later. Now we can because I can sneakily get some work done.,,

More than the car is worth and I'm 25. It's pretty insane really.

forteh
See I'm lazy and cba with shopping around, besides which the resulting phone bill from shopping around invariably costs more than the saving on insurance It's dropped from last year so can't complain, would probably be less if I put the wife on there (not that she can drive). Jolfa
Are you guys just using compare sites or what?
forteh
I used flux when I had the golf gti as they were the cheapest at the time, when I got the focus (1.8 tdci) I checked various comparison sites and hastings were consistently cheapest by the time you factor in the extras that they don't charge you for (legal/windscreen cover etc.). They haven't got any more expensive over the last 4 years so I'm not too fussed about saving 20 quid. If I paid it in one lump sum then it would be a little over 300 quid. Jolfa
I'd expect to be saving around £100 on that
Luke Rainbird
In a hot bath at home after a week on exercise in the same spot a number of Royal Marines died earlier on the year. Pretty humbling being up in the hills in a spot like that knowing how serious things can get. Family wedding tomorrow and whilst I've not yet ironed shirts, polished shoes or regained the ability to walk like a normal human being, it should be a pretty awesome day despite the weather's attempts to change that
