Tom Booth
I've got mine another 14 month lolol. Mines been dropped, kicked, thrown, in the sink and it's been fine. About 2 months ago I dropped a screwdriver on it from about an inch away and it's caught it just right to royally f**k it. Sucks thou that the screens aren't replaceable. That's my only gripe with mine.

williams
I used this phone for ages. Never had problems with the cracks in the glass
Tom Booth
From what I understand the HTC one is a properly sealed unit so to replace the screen you have to ruin the rest of the phone

Muel
Never ceases to amaze me how stupid these bloody smartphones are. Glass. In a phone.I'm on my second smartphone and it still baffles me. It lives in my pocket with my keys and various other things, how could they ever thing glass was a good idea? You put your phone, which includes glass, in your pocket with keys? And you're calling smartphones stupid? I've had the last 3 iPhones, and never had a cracked screen or anything - they end up a bit battered because I don't use cases or anything, but I really struggle to see how people find them so easy to break. Luke Rainbird
I've used iPhones for the past 5 years or so and other than chipping one lower rear corner have never incurred any damage to them whatsoever. Never used a case, never had an issue. Bearing in mind I'f foolishly ridden with them in my pockets etc I find that pretty f**king acceptable really, given that the 5 phones I had prior to these were all killed in a matter of months. dann2707
Stick a screen protector on there as a temp measure dude I never thought of that! Thanks a lot mate, its lovely and smooth on my fingers now. People at uni today are going to laugh at me when they see that though when the screen has broken hahaha. The ironic thing is i'd just ordered a case for it, I received it Tuesday but it was the wrong one. I reckon if they'd sent me the right one this wouldn't have happened! I refuse to conform to this rediculous idea that my phone can only go in certain pockets, it's absolutely f**king moronic to design something that weak and feeble that gets dropped, scratched and kicked about in bags.I have a screen protector anyway, my attempt to fix their flawed design. Luke Rainbird
If you're that careless with something that's cost, on average, several hundred pounds then you deserve to smash the shit out of it. Buy a cheap phone if you're notorious for giving them a hard life.
Muel
If I spend several hundred pounds on a phone, it should have the ability to go in my pocket and get dropped every once in a while, otherwise it's just not fit for purpose. It would be like designing a trials bike that snapped the first time you fell off.Luckily I was clever and got an S3, which seem to be pretty tough. Luke Rainbird
A phone's purpose is to be used for calls/texts, and in the case of smartphones the ability to browse the web and do appy stuffs. If you're dropping/kicking/smashing it into keys and assorted other smartphone-torture devices then of course it's not going to last. The trials bike analogy doesn't work, it's more like riding a 5kg ultralight roadie through a DH section at Fort Bill and expecting it to come out the other end begging for more. Sure, it'd be great if phones were a bit more hard-wearing etc (hence the use of different materials, Gorilla-Glass etc) but that's not their primary function so if they deal with usual everyday wear and tear (ie. not being thrown around like a baseball) then it's not the product that's at fault. SamKidney
Made the mistake of semi-drunkedly telling my brother how I wish I didnt live here anymore and want to be at my Dads. He's convinced I dont want to be with my family, and that they mean nothing to me. They all mean the absolute world to me. I have a good job/apprenticeship, and Im going places. But its no fun when its work, home, bed, repeat with no social life/friends here, yet I have mates from my Dads area bombarding me with messages/calls asking me when Im next through and what I'm doing. Seriously debating ditching everything at the moment and f**king off to my Dads for my own well being, feel seriously depressed about everything at the moment other than seeing my Girlfriend and being at my Dads. SamKidney
finish your apprenticeship then go there ? Not that easy. Now Im 18 I'd have to pay to get onto a new full time college course, which I cant afford. Jobs are few and far between down there, and I dont want to fall out with my family over the matter. Just torn between everything. Not as simple as packing up and going. I've also over another year to go to finish my apprenticeship. It's not a flawed design, you're just a clumsy git. I keep my phone in a different pocket, because f**k having more than just a smartphone in your pocket (They're big enough!) - never had any damage to any of mine because I also don't drop them.I'm not at all, I've not broken a phone in over 5 years, and then it was in my bag, in a metal case and I dropped my bag, which smashed the screen. Can't have done much more to avoid it.I just hate how they are so brittle and easy to break. I'm not rough with mine but they could so easily be a better design. shamus
Cracked the screen on my Samsung with a protector and in its hard leather flip case when it was in my riding bag (in the padded phone slot and with a base layer and sandwiches for shock absorption in a minor soft ground off) hate to think how an iphone would fare in that incident. I think glass is a silly idea, which is why I don't buy a phone with glass, a material renowned for its brittle qualities. Each to their own though. I know people who've had no issues but I also see lots of people using crazy paved phones and just wonder why someone thought it was a good idea.
