Skoze
Loan Agreed! Fingers crossed mine's alright, paid up my first month's rent but if they need any more from me before mine comes in i'm f**ked.
JD™
Interest free loan, which doesn't track inflation and thus includes 'free' money in real terms over the course of its existence
Luke Rainbird
Not quite. Not quite a standard "loan" either though. The people calling it a "graduate tax" are closest, but it still doesn't quite hit the nail on the head, with it being somewhere between the three. Best "loan" you're ever gonna get though. Take full advantage
JD™
Luckily, when people go to university to study something they excel at (rather than because their friends say it'll be great and society says they should) they soon earn enough to offset that tax. The key is actually excelling at something. Shame we're not allowed to tell most kids they don't. Obviously, I excel at being a massive twat.
anzo
Did you study Massive Twat in uni?
JD™
Nah, they didn't have a degree available that suited my ability to be a twat, so I skipped uni and went into marketing.
MadManMike
I studied Massive Twat at college. Stayed with her for 2 years until she moved out while I was at work, taking half my shit with her.

MadManMike
I was young and naive. It's not really a bad thing, I had a pretty poor taste in women, music and film back then and luckily she took all three away at once... Muel
Interest free loan, which doesn't track inflation and thus includes 'free' money in real terms over the course of its existence Not strictly true. Mine tracks slightly above inflation, so not free but fairly close.

It's never too late. I think they do it through Open University.
JD™
Glossing over that somewhat... I stopped 'coding' when I was about 17, as in programming rather than this twatting about with HTML and CSS and calling it marketing. So I've been pretty impressed that nearly 10 years later I've been able to pick up some bits and bobs on the journey to making a simple app that could well be very useful to about 40% of the population. Tonight I sat down being as Hayley was away for the night, with the view to getting some more of it done. Early on this evening I just churned out some code that I really thought I'd struggle with, so I was pretty damn happy. About 2 hours ago I thought I'd go to bed, except for 'just this one little simple thing', which really should be just a little simple thing. It won't work. All the tutorials online, all the questions people have asked, they all point to the same answer. For some reason, that answer isn't working for me. I want to go to bed, but I know I won't be able to until I figure out why something so simple is so difficult, and then I'll be too annoyed to sleep anyway. This is why I stopped coding.

anzo
I tend to find a bit of time away from a problem helps you resolve it. Go have a coffee or a fag and come back with a fresh mind.
JD™
Thanks I ended up giving up on it last night and got it first thing this morning. Strange how you can sometimes work stuff out in your sleep!
