Nope, it's dead as a dodo. A 200 error is (usually) terminal. :(

Backup things, then backup the backup!

Depending on what the problem is, you may be able to get another HDD from the same production batch as that one, swap some bits and get stuff off it, but that's a long shot that doesn't always work.

How important are the thing that you lost?

Just about 15 days worth of music on itunes, got all the important stuff backed up. Pretty sure there's a loose connection somewhere as if I apply a little pressure to the case just to the side of the mouse pad the hdd indicator led flashes and I've got it up and running?!

Gonna back up everything I haven't already got whilst I still can an probably call it a day on the old girl. Had it nearly 6 years now anyway!

Ancient.

Our old man has an old Dell Inspiron he bought shortly after splitting with the mother he uses for downloading things, and that was near 11 years ago now...

Got further motivation problems with riding, this time a bit more serious. It's normal that after winter I have absolutely no stammina but after this winter, I have no muscles left. They're physically there, but they don't work. It's sooo frustrating, I find myself using most of my strength while setting up for the gap and then on preload I feel like my muscles are exhausted and arms can't hold the handlebars. It's bad. And with a new bike, I'm constantly thinking that perhaps my riding is poor because of a new setup. It's almost certainly not, but subconsciously I believe that it is. I'm trying to ride, but find myself going back home after 5-10 minutes tops. Living in a remote location doesn't help practising with a fellow trials rider who could get me out of this rut.

Don't give in just yet, I'm getting old (I'm 30) and recovering from a broken ankle so my right calf muscle is non existent. This isn't gonna stop me though, even riding alone when I come back I'm gonna be bigger and better!

Me neither. My right leg has turned to jelly, but I'm gonna get the miles in on the road bike, and lots of swimming to get me fit again for trials. I will ride in another comp again this year

Frames taking the ultimate piss take to raw. Strippers useless, and I removed more paint sanding it by hand than the gooey stuff.
Sanded most of the big areas on the frame and left it with a layer of paint stripper on the whole frame overnight. Should hopefully do the trick.

Your old man needs to move with the times. Anything over 3 years old is a paperweight.

He has, he soley uses it for downloads/storage.
He's got a well specced Acer Aspire now, though not quite as specced up as mine much to his annoyance :P

Copied directly from my Facebook status:

"So I roll out of my crib looking fresh, cruising down to the seafront on my bike. Fresh clean clothes and a polished bike. Get to the front and immediately get covered in seagull crap. All in my hair, on my arms, on my headphones and a fair splattering on my bike. It was so much it actually was dripping off my head and down my face. Got as much off as possible and headed home pronto. Shower time now. Unhappy."
