Seems to me (from his recent explanation somewhere about moving to Scotland and not having work a couple of times) that Matt spends more of his time finding work than fannying around with an ego boost website. Maybe that's the reason that most freelancers struggle - they spend too much time getting the 'perfect' presence online and not enough time getting in front of the right people. Just a hypothesis...

Yeh well your hypothesis was silly.

I wouldn't say I was severely ignorant, however I was ignorant to exactly what you were trying to convey with your last reply as I only skim read it.

If it works for you using one then that's fine, but to be honest I'm a little surprised. A proper email address using your own URL and having a high quality portfolio at that URL is very important in freelance IMO. It's all part of your online persona!

Of course it is and it's something I will be incorporating, however my point is it's not an indication on the individuals ability and it has never hampered my work or ability to find clients in any way.

Also I don't really like the way so much of the creative industry relies on online persona's so to speak. Whilst I appreciate its importance and use it to certain extents it is always my last medium as I prefer to take a slightly different approach to most which coincidentally has always been favoured by clients and in some occasions won me work. I think the online mediums are relied on too heavily and are often very generic. Based on this then, if a designer was picked over another purely due to the face their email address ended in theirname.com then I wouldn't be interested in working with them.

Yea, it doesn't. She either values your friendship or she doesn't. So she'll either not listen to him or she will. Either way you win, because she'll either continue being a friend or she wont you'll know that you didn't mean that much to her anyway.

Call them!

...and then get a Google Mail account, Hotmail is shite!

Definitely phone them up tomorrow and explain the situation dude.

Also, what he said, GMail is the only way to go.

This is all sorted :)

So, wife goes running with an ex boyfriend (from about 8 or 9 years ago) and doesn't see why I have a problem with it.

I had a similar problem with my lady meeting up with her ex and a few mates for a night out, but then I realised that they broke up for a reason, I'm an awesome bloke and she's lucky to have me (honest!) and that I was being childish.

Don't worry dude, she's married to you, she's had your kids and she's moving into her parent's house with you. She's got no reason to play away, maybe she just wanted to catch up?

I don't really feel comfortable remaining friends with exes, but I'm aware that a lot of people (especially girls) have no problem with it.

I just don't trust him, I know (possibly from personal experience) that the fact someone is married simply makes the challenge more fun (I know, moved on from that).

Really winds me up as he sought her out pestering on Facebook and stuff to get her out running, what's worse is he runs the gym in Chapel so it's not like he's short of candidates to run with.

Post him a freshly laid log in a Jiffy bag with the message, " she's my wench not yours, so keep your mitts off". Might work, might not. Failing that just knock him out :)

Left the office a couple of hours ago, early enough not to have too many troubles I hoped. Now back at the office because everyone is driving like an idiot, so I've left my car in a carpark 10 minutes walk away which is as far as I got. Ladyfriend is NOT happy, because obviously I should have persevered despite the fact I was going nowhere...

Got a nice sofabed here and my sleeping bag, but I'm going to have to go trudge out in it again soon just to keep her happy and then do it all again tomorrow morning. YAY!

Then three of my four "mates" cancelled on me. Left with this one lad i haven't seen since highschool. I asked If anyone was up for friday but no, one has to see his girlfriend one has to see his girlfriend, one has a party and one has some apprenticship shit to do.

Sounds like she's being a bit of a dick dude... I'd just stay anyway to be honest, surely she thinks it's safer for you to stay there anyway?

Yea I've ventured out for something to eat and there's fresh snow between each car because they've been sat so long! I think she's getting it after a bit of explaining that it's definitely a no go. Ill drive in anything, but I can't if there's no way through :( definitely safer to stay in the office tonight I think.
