I'm also not getting where you're coming from Muel. It's not like he's advertising bras or something completely irrelevant, it's a phone and chances are he's got a phone and most likely (now) it'll be a Windows phone which does phone things just as well as any others. Using Danny, or Beckham or Lewis Hamilton to advertise anything is just supposed to make it appeal to a certain audience (in this case young, hip(!) people who know who that guy on the bike that rode over a spiky rail is and the chance to 'go viral' and get shared and posted worldwide for a huge amount of free advertising. I think they probably succeeded on that front and chances are the coverage they'll get will be massively increased because it incorporated Danny doing one of his stunts.

It's not selling out it's making the most of what could be a relatively short career at the top of his game and picking up support from some very big names, whether extreme sports related or from companies who maybe would like to jump on to that bandwagon.

I say fair play to him.

If I had a talent and a random company wanted to pay me for it, I wouldn't say no. Unless of course it was a company like Monsanto or similarly dodgy corporations.

Most people would jump at the chance for Red Bull sponsorship - fame, money and I'd imagine some pretty amazing experiences whilst working for them (If his videos are anything to go by!)

This is a retarded argument.

Consumerism is here, we've all helped it along in our own ways with the things we buy. If a big horrible corp wants to sell rubbish to stupid, braindead consumers, then why the hell should I care. If Danny can extract some of the cash out of that equation and give trials some more exposure, then that's great in my opinion.

If he was advertising something which clearly he would never use otherwise then that would be selling-out. I call this merely making a living.

Why can my housemates only use a speaker at full volume?! Tried talking to them, but it's falling on deaf ears. (pardon the pun)

My iPod dock, which only has a 5.25 inch subwoofer is constantly being abused in the room below me. I don't want to confiscate it as that makes me a dick and I like having it downstairs to use while I'm chilling. But when it's pumping out 110dB for 6 hours a day minimum, and shaking the first 2 floors of our house- it's starting to get old.

As you all know, I'm an easily aggravated person.

But something I saw tonight made my f**king shit itch.

At my gym there are 8 disabled bays, and they do a lot of work with disabled people because they have a very large studio and a really big and open gym floor which is perfect.

Here's a screenshot of the layout.

post-14165-0-43494800-1417122087_thumb.p

Today the gym put a post up on Facebook politely asking for customers to keep the disabled bays free because lots of disabled people were struggling to use the gym, there was a large notice which was absolutely unmissable as you walked in basically saying 'ARE YOU PARKED IN A DISABLED BAY?'

As I'm leaving the gym there's two physically disabled people and one man in a wheel chair, in the freezing f**king cold, waiting for their minibus to turn around in the car park because he couldn't pull up, get his ramps down and then get everybody in like he usually does.

Now most people will probably think 'why don't they just wait inside?' They're autistic, and autistic people don't think like that.

This really f**king aggravated me, because the cars taking up the disabled bay weren't cars with blue badges, or 'every day' cars. There was a Cayman, two 911's, an M3 an M5 and a Focus RS. Clearly parked there because the f**king pricks who own them want their prized pieces of shit to be on display in front of the gym with a nice two foot gap protecting their doors.

So this poor old bloke's struggling, with his three disabled passengers waiting out in the cold. All for other peoples vanity and convenience.

So I suggested that the people waiting come inside, which they immediately agreed with. I wheeled the guy in the wheelchair towards the door, and as I'm coming towards the door and one of the autistic blokes is holding the door for me some little bell end just barges through coming out of the gym, then unlocks his Focus RS that's taking up a disabled bay and opens the door.

So I ran up to him and incredibly politely asked him not to park in the disabled bays as he clearly wasn't disabled, incredibly politely. Literally 'I'm really sorry to ask this, and I don't want to sound like a nobhead but would you please not park in the disabled bays? These guys have been out here in the cold waiting for their minibus to get a space to load them on because all the bays are full up and it's not on.'

Cheeky f**king fanny turns round and says 'mate, it's private property. It isn't the f**king law so why don't you f**k off.'

I honestly would have knocked him out if everybody wasn't watching.

What a f**king meat jockey.

Hopefully he'll have a horrific car crash and lose the use of his legs, then he can maybe understand how much of an arsehole he's been.

-

**I've probably missed a very key point here, in that there are at least 100 parking spaces at the gym and there is never not a space. There's also a gravelled overflow carpark about 100 yards down the road. The parking at the gym is a square all the way round, with one row of bays on the inside, the 'road' in the middle and parking around the outer perimeter with all the cars facing outwards from the square.

I've attached a picture to show it now.

The kind of thing makes me extremely angry too, working in Waitrose it was always the c**ts that drive Audi Q7's and fill the extremely limited number of disabled spaces because they are 'in a rush' or worse 'there's no disabled people around- it's just another parking space'.

Putting notices on their windows, reading their number plate over the tannoy, politely asking them not to park there etc. doesn't get through to them. You can't win unless you're actively there to stop them from parking or start messing with their car.

Which realistically is just a war you don't want to start, as they will retaliate. Especially driving a brand new Fiat ;)

My problem is that EVERYBODY at the gym knows me, and my car.

I'd never f**k with somebodies car, because as anybody who knows me will happily account for if anybody ever did anything to my car I would end their life. No over exaggeration or over dramatising, I would just not be able to control myself. And I spend almost 23 hours of the day struggling to control my anger so that would just push me over the edge

Fair enough, I can see it must have been embarrassing for him being confronted about such a dick move, but he took his chance of taking it on board and not being an arsehole and jumped all over it.

Oddly, doing things for autistic and disabled people is about the only time I'm remotely tolerant about anything. I've started volunteering for the sessions for autistic adults, I find it oddly fulfilling. I think it's because I never really knew that all I wanted as an autistic child was somebody like myself as a friend until I was much older and tarted to understand myself. And I think, 'what if these guys don't know that yet?'

Just turned down a 12 month extension for my job where my manager told me they were defiantly looking to make me full time. I hate everything about the job but it pays and it means I have a job so I’m not 100% I just made the right decision. My family are going to have a massive go at me for this because I had told them I was going to accept it but changed my mind just when I got called in. It would be nice to have somebody say I made the right decision but I don’t know.

What role is it? Do the company know you're not 100% happy?

If they want you they might be willing to make changes if possible. Worth speaking to a manager rather than just walking away!

It’s just really crappy admin stuff, but most of the time I literally have no work to do despite asking for more stuff. I’ve been extended twice and each time I’ve said I’d like more responsibilities but nothing comes from it. Really the department could do with a few redundancies… And the commute means getting home at 7 every day and I’m just thinking there’s only so long I can waste my life before it’s wasted.

It’s a bold move, I guess.

I'm sure you've posted about your job on this thread before!

Pretty bad management if what you say is true! Did the manager ask for a reason why you turned the offer down?

You need to be happy above everything else, so get job hunting! Get a good reference from them too if you can.

You're parents will be much happier if you show that you have a plan and are actively looking for work.

Yep, that’s me :P

I told her that I just don’t feel like I’m doing anything because of the crazy lack of work, all she said was ‘I know’ and pulled a face. If she had said anything more positive I might have continued but it’s pretty clear she’s hopeless as being a decent manager.

My last day’s Christmas Eve, so I guess at least I have a few weeks’ worth of CV sending before I get desperate.

Ok you made the right decision. I ended up quitting a job when I could see it was full of false promises and was never going to change. It's because most people just stay anyway and get on with it ("Oh well, at least we've still got jobs I guess...") that payrises and promotions are generally shit.

Time to snatch the reins back, son! They couldn't be trusted with your employment situation - find someone more deserving of your contributions.

Is using a disabled toilet that bad? At work we have one on each floor, and when I use my bike at lunch I change shirt to I pop in one of them and change quickly. The reason for using a disabled one is getting changed in a cubicle isn't ideal with a rucksack, it's just a bit tight. Today I came out and the old haggard Scottish receptionist says 'it says disabled'. I wouldn't normally care that much, but she waited for us to walk past each other and mutters it to herself so she knew I could hear, it's just annoying, call me out on it instead of being so ratty about it. And the thing is I've seen so many other people use them all the time, and without going down to the basement it's not like I'm going to change in reception.

Is using a disable toilet that bad a thing to do?

If only I could have voted yes.
