This Is Just A Brake.

Sort of the wrong forum, but it's not like there's a 'right' forum...

So, Stan got some nice bits and pieces in the mail recently. First came in the form of a bunch of rainbow Ti parts from his latest sponsors Stan, second came in the form of this pretty sweet CNC'd lever 2005-style lever body.

Wow someone in trials finally jumped on a marketing ploy when they saw one - Good job Stan!

Does Stan make that CNC body, looks sweet. Any more news on it? A shame they didn't make it a split clamp and incorporate a pivot bolt that doesn't come loose while they were at it.

Congrats to Mr Shaw!

Nah, it's made by a separate company. They e-mailed us and asked if we were interested, so we're giving this a quick check to make sure it's all cool then we should have some in stock. They've been testing them themselves for a while so it should be reet.

I suppose so, although having said that Stan's had his current rear brake for 5 years and has only taken it off his bars about 3-4 times (when he's actually been changing his bars) so it's not thaaaat big a deal. It would've been cool I guess, but it would involve totally redesigning the lever body itself. If you're going to do that then you might as well totally change every aspect of it, but that means it's usually going to be more expensive to make and spares are going to be more difficult to get hold of.

Yeah that's fair enough, be interesting to see if they make any more bits as I'm sure like Leon said 04 levers would be popular and a cheaper alternative to an official magura 4 finger lever on the 05's would be nice. Not that I ever plan on using rim brakes again though...

Yeah, clamp wise....couldn't that just snap like the '05 did?

I'd prefer an '04 remake but I guess the blades are unobtainable now.

The '05s only really broke if they were over-tightened. The actual clamp body seemed to be reasonably fine. Either way - this lever's made out of a totally different material and has a slightly different design for the bar clamp so I'm sure it'll be fine...

Would you ever be selling the brake as pictured? Like, not just the lever body... Like, with the metal tpa, all the Ti bolts, and the trialtech hose splitter?

If you do, how much would it cost? If not, would you be able to put one together if someone bought all the parts for one, again how much would this cost?

Thanks :P

I doubt we'd stock it as a complete item just because I doubt there'd be that many people who'd want to buy that exact brake, really. I totted up what Stan's brake came to, and including the pads it was around £210.
