BenJay
Hi all, I`ve got to the point now where I can do front and rear hops (even though my technique is still quite shabby) and was wondering what to do next? Is now the right time to attempt pedal kicks or should I refine my hops more until theyre solid and natural? Ive got the basics like bunny hops, side hops and endo`s nailed down. Any help would be appreciated.
isitafox
There's no specific order in what you should learn, just give it a go and see what happens. You might find that working on pedal kicks will help with your general backhop technique.
dezmtber
Back hops on one spot. Pick out a tile in your yard. Once that's all good try pedal hops to the next tile. Then move on to pallets. You should pick it up mate don't worry if it takes time. It will be worth your while. It changes the way you look at your riding spots once you have riding on the back wheel sorted

JoNnY__Mc
I wouldn't focus on how many back hops you can do, as a backhop just becomes a correction hop when you are more comfortable on the backwheel. Instead, I would focus on learning to pedal hop. You can learn this by lifting the front wheel by pedalling instead of rolling back from an endo. Once you can lift your front wheel by pedalling, lock the back brake, then pedal stroke, brake, pedal stroke, brake. Once you can do that you will be able to lift the bike after the pedal stroke to learn pedal hops. Learning this technique will help over moves that require pedal and brake control such as taps, gaps and sidehops.
