DrDoom
Hey all, I know I'm not really a regular on here - but I have a massive favour to ask... Could anyone perhaps pick me up from Birmingham new street station, tommorow evening, put me up for the night (dont mind floors) and either drop me off, or put me in direction of the right bus to Kings Norton? I've got to pick a van up first thing tuesday morning, but there's no way down from Scotland in time! Would expect to pay fuel ect! Jake.
I'd help out if I was local, hope you find a lift!
forteh
Im in lichfield, just north of brum, the round trip is about 60 miles and 90 minutes. What time are you expecting to be at new street? I finish work at 4:30 so realistically wont be able to get to there till 5:15 - 5:30 depending on traffic. If that suits I should be able to sort you out with a lift, if not it might be worth contacting kyle livesy, I know he is much closer to brum than me
Rich Hill
If you get desperate you could get the train out to Kings Norton? Think its only a couple of quid and takes 15mins or so.
forteh
I'm playing taxi Hope the traffic isnt too bad!

Muel
Good man Ed. Bad news about the van though!
DrDoom
Guys... Guys... I'm home! At last... Ahh life. Van broke down just north of Annandale Water service station a couple of minutes after stopping for a coffee at 1am this morning. Called my recovery service (who'll be being ditched after last night) They came out, an hour later, then proceeded to tell me they can only take me 10 miles, any further will be £2.50 a mile... Meaning a grand total of £864 + Vat to get home. Old dear came down to give me a lift home, she was with me at 5am - I'd been sat in the van in -3c until then! Never been so happy to see a warm car in my life. Ditched the van in a free car park for now. Shall be going down with a mates transporter tommorow to pick it up, get it back to mine and I'll get it sorted! Massive thanks to Ed for the lift out to Kings Norton, much appreciated! After being on a train all day, the last thing I wanted to do was try and make a connection one minute after my train arrived due to delays, then walk from the station to the van in the pissing rain, and dark, without a clue where I'm going. Props dude! Next time your up with work, give us a shout - there's a bottle of scotch waiting!
forteh
See, shoulda bought a sleeping bag Glad you got back eventually, any clue on whats failed? Least you have a spare left hand widget somewhere! Cheers for the offer but I doubt I'll be up your end of the world too soon, as said most of the remote installations are secptic tanks and all our work seems to be in the south. DrDoom
That nice cheap £2400 van? Well, it's now cost me over £3500 Van - £2400 Fuel - £100 Train down to brum £100 Recovery from Moffat £600 Fuel for the lift from Moffat home £100 Hour in the garage on the diagnostics machine £50 High pressure fuel pump - £300 Truly f**king gutted. JD™
Would you make a profit though? If not then why bother? You've spent the money out so you might as well keep it now. Gutting but it happens
DrDoom
I'd make what I've spent, and a little bit more - hence why I made the journey down for it! Guy I bought it from is sending up a fuel pump free of charge now though after some persuasion - happy chappy!
