Revolver
http://www.wimp.com/createutopia/ This asks questions that are worth their own topic. What happens when you can reproduce anything? Money is useless, you can replicate it perfectly.
Muel
What powers the replicators? I'm guessing energy has to be found from somewhere, so people will still have to work. Nothing will change IMO, people on benefits will still bum around leeching from society, the rest of us will still do stuff that brings us satisfaction (work). For 90% of the population, I reckon it'll simply remove the stress of dealing with things. When you think about it, there are two kinds of work, there is the kind you repeat constantly just to stay alive, like eating, cleaning, shopping, pooing, etc, then there is the other kind where you create new stuff, do new things or learn new things. You'll still have to work hard to get good at riding trials, or to create/modify new parts, you'll just be able to replace the whole bike every time it breaks. weirdoku
Who gets to use these replicators? Rich people? Government? Like the dude says in the video, you can simply ask for something but will whoever you're asking give it to you? Will it cost you? Waste can probably be recycled with perfect efficiency I guess, so there'll be less waste in the world I'd imagine. But then again will whoever owns the replicators actually recycle the waste? I have so many questions...
casualjoe
I guess you could just replicate more replicators. This idea has been around since the birth of nanotechnology and it's still a long way off. However there has been some recent breakthroughs in this field, with the use of nanoparticles. It seems the little things can boil water using only diffuse sunlight and also supply immuno-resetting drugs to the right part of the body, which should cure diseases like MS and other autoimmune diseases. Plus so many other amazing things that nanotech is helping with.
Greetings
I'm not sure about replicators but the way technology might affect our lives in the distant future is a very interesting topic. Anyone played the Mass Effect trilogy or the first and latest Deus Ex? They also raise some interesting questions about this very matter.
