bikeperson45
I'm looking at getting a new brake for the front on a 26". I'm sticking with cable because they're simple but don't know which to go for. I've been using a BB7 with a 203mm rotor which has been great despite having a broken dial. But this one is a few years old and I've heard the newer ones aren't as good? And that the BB5 is based on the older BB7? I don't know much Thanks
chris_trials
Stick with the BB7 just get the new model, I'd also run an odessy slick bmx cable. I used one with my vee and it was so smooth, almost like a maggie with a decent bleed
AkuskaUK
Yeah, stay with the BB7! Set up properally they can stop you on the spot!
Azarathal
The old bb7's were one piece calipers. The new ones are two piece, little bit cheaper to make, tiny bit lighter but a metric f**ktonne flexier
ghostrider88
BB5 are just as strong if not stronger than BB7 and feel stiffer because they have one piece body.
isitafox
Why not just replace the dial?
bikeperson45
Why not just replace the dial? Rotor's pretty bent, brake recently became contaminated and Tarty voucher contribute to the new brake decision Thinking I'm going to try and get a one piece bb7, thanks
Azarathal
One piece bb7's are pretty old. Why not get new pads, dial, rotor, level and cable? It'll refresh the feel completely.
bikeperson45
At that point though I'd rather spend a bit more and just get a new whole brake, being in the US sucks for having to order stuff now and I'd rather just get it over with quickly.
