Matt Vandart
anyone used this tyre~/ Is it the sticky black chilli or the 'get it wet and hold on for your life' black chilli compound? http://www.chainreac...x?ModelID=82972
Martin Reynolds
It does say uner the specification : Continental Baron MTB Protection Tyre SpecificationsBlack Chili I always thought there was one compound of black chilli? Ali C
I always thought there was one compound of black chilli? There are around 3-4.
N.Wood
...Ranging from the complete dogshit to the awesome. I'd hazard a guess that this uses the 'sorta dogshit' Rubber Queen compound. Confusingly, i think its the 'Der Baron' that uses the better RK / DK compound

casualjoe
anyone used this tyre~/ Yes, it's way smaller than it looks. The sidewalls split easily if you're gonna ride rocks with it, needing patching up with sections of old tyre. But it's grippy, light and pretty pinch resistant. I woulddn't get another. CalopS
Do it right, get a Der Kaiser.
Mark W
The Der Barons are good too - they're the Rain King with a new name (retarded MTBers thought it was 'only' a rain tyre, so didn't think they could use it in other conditions...). Cap's been running one for a while and it's just as good as Stan's Der Kaiser. I think Ali used to run the Rain King on his Stinger/Premier and it was good then too. cai
I'd recommend a Der Baron (the proper sticky version, not that one in the link). I've been using a Rain King - which is the same tyre - for the best part of two years and it's still barely worn. It's also the grippiest tyre I've used for street and natural, and has the best sidewalls of any tyre I've used for trials. Good tyre
Blake
Not really helpful but Damon Watson used to run one and rated it highly.
Matt Vandart
Cool thanks dudes, I am aware of the rain king /der baron thing. I am looking for a smaller tyre for my XC bike that wont go skating in the wet. The trails on the mountain by my house is very rocky, as soon as they get a sniff of damp its skiiing time. The mountain king 2's I got are sheeeeeeite in these conditions. Read somewhere the Baron was a good wet weather tyre.
Rusevelt
Do it right, get a Der Kaiser. Yeah, especially now that they are £26.99 at CRC limited offer.
