Liamd-24
Hey Well basically just starting trials and I'm building up a bike with minimum money Iv been looking for 2 cheap 26 wheels but can't find any cheap wheel sets So I was just wondering if would a cheap Shimano? Hub would be okay? Then just get a rim and build it myself or do I need to get something amazing? And also could I just buy mtb cranks and leave the 22t chainring on it? And this may be a stupid question by what are the holes in rims for? Thanks
ULtrialsguy
First of all, yes ordinary hubs will work, my bike came with shimano xt hubs originally. I could sell you these if you want, well the front one is built up on an old onza rim. You will want to upgrade these though especially the rear one as you'll need more engagement points. Mtb cranks will probably work for 22T but the chainring won't be as strong as trials ones. Also the holes in rims are for saving weight, nothing else.
Liamd-24
Hey how much would you want for the wheel? And that's cool I can get a Shimano hub for £8 and a rim for £15 And f.e I was just confused why there where holes I just wanna get cheap stuff at first so I can see if I like it then I'd be upgrading Thanks for the help
ULtrialsguy
I could give you the front wheel for £15 inc postage. The rim has no holes so it's pretty heavy but the toughest rim you'll ever find. Also the hub is non disk. I put up pictures if you want me too but I'm really busy right now in uni so the earliest I could sort out pics and postage is tomorrow. Rear hub probably about £8, again non disk. Both are in good condition and work fine, I just got better stuff. Not to put myself out of a sale but sometimes its best to save up some cash and get better parts first otherwise you'll end up paying twice when you realise you want to upgrade the stuff you have. Also prices above may change, I'd love to sell them to you at that price but the mail service over here charges huge money. I'm going to look up alternative postage ways, fedex etc to see if I can get it down.
