xDziiaHz
I have been looking at the onza zoot so far, but i was wondering what would be a good bike to start on? My budget is £550 max, so it would have to be preowned im guessing... Thanks in advance for any advice?
onza pro series guy
basic answer, there isn't one. Otherwise there would only be one bike on sale which everybody rode. What sort of stuff do you want to do? I'm guessing street? Do you want lightweight or strong? Do you need to have a 24"? Brand new or second hand? Do you want a bike that needs very little or no upgrades or do you want to build it up as you go along?
xDziiaHz
Secondhand is probably the best option, i was thinking preowned inspired? Also, yes it has to be 24", because out of all of the types, it would be the easiest to ride around? I would prefer little upgrade, but im willing to upgrade, and i'd rather have strong... onza pro series guy
okay, there is no real easy size of wheel they all come with practice, if you want to ride more pogo-sticky or propper trialsy then you're looking at a mod (20") or stock (26") However if you want to be more flowy and BMX-y with stuff then a street bike would be good for you So first you must decide flowy and bmxy or more static and propper trialsy
xDziiaHz
Definantly flowy and streety I think i'll try and find preowned inspired

showurcolours
£500 Little bit out of my price range, but an awesome bike none the less. If the zoot I'm looking at falls through then I may end up trying to save a bit more and call you about that!

showurcolours
Thanks, it is a gorgeous looking bike isn't it? and no probs It's a bike that dreams are made of to be honest, you've done yourself a HUGE favor by taking a picture in what I can only describe as a 'sexy bike pose' Ooooooeh, look at those angles Out of interest, is that tar on the front rim? Haha, I know, it was my dream bike when I built it up, only reason I am selling it is because it doesn't get ridden as much as it should do, because I spend more time on my mod. The front rim is actually black and has never seen the use of a rim brake, so it must be the light which has made it appear that way Btw, that is my favourite bike pic angle for some reason too
Denty66
£500 hi my 11 year old son has just been outbid on an onza zoot on eBay and has gone to bed crying. His max budget is £400 .would you be interested in this for yours? If it was for a black and orange zoot that closed prematurely on weds/thurs night, I was the buyer...sorry to say! I have seen quite a few Zoots on ebay recently (think because of the cold weather and the fact christmas is approaching) so I reckon there might be a few more in the coming weeks. I'm relatively new to trials so don't take this for certain but I'm thinking that a Zoot for an 11 year old would be slightly unsuitable because of the size and weight, you may want to ask someone with more experience on this forum - sure they'd give you a proper answer! His max budget is £400 .would you be interested in this for yours? Hi, sorry to hear about that, I know the feeling for sure. Unfortunately £400 is too low for me, as the bike was worth around three times that when new. Is £400 his absolute maximum budget?
Denty66
How funny ,Thanks for that! Yes we bid on the one you bought and also a black and green one this evening he's gutted! We're only looking at the onza zoot because we got advise from tarty bikes and that's the one they recommended. He's also looking at inspired fourplay s . I'm hoping they won't be too big for him but there are no stockists nearby (coventry) for him to try either so advise from anyone would be welcome. Ah, the one that I got actually had no bids on (why it ended early) - Like I said earlier I'm new to trials so don't take it as certain, but I'm 22 and find the front end of the zoot pretty hard to lift (it's heavy and poor technique as well probaby) so I'd recommend a mod bike (20" instead of 24" - Zoot and Inspired Fourplay are 24") just because they are lighter and cheaper, and he'd be able to grow into it and progress faster. That would be my opinion, like I said, PM some of the other well known guys and I'm sure they will help you out

dann2707
It amazes me that inspired haven't properly brought out a mod sized inspired rig. I'd imagine it would be such a hit with the younger whipper snappers and that!

Forum wouldn't let me message you today something about only 3 posts a day so I couldn't get shop details so I used phone book to randomly phoned bike shops in goole and found the bike on first call! My son is now the proud owner of his first trials bike. Will post some pics when he receives it. ogre
if it's black and green you're on to a serious winner, they downgraded the specs after that model to maintain the same price... if any noobs search this thread for advice, when you buy a trials bike, make sure its got: oversize bars, isis cranks, a good freewheel, and as many sealed bearings as possible. and budget for sorting out the brakes too. you'll struggle to progress effectively without good brakes and a good freewheel (there are exceptional people who defy this, but the chances are your a normal person, who will take any excuse to not do something, having a solid working rig negates this excuse...) I completely agree with you though, I started on an onza rip. I would never recommend that bike to anyone...
