SamKidney
After a rather pathetic fail in Sheff on saturday, I'd split my crossover hose at the barbed fitting. I came up with this method of knocking the barb back into the hose: Providing you have these to hand: - Stanley Knife or something akin to it - Hammer - 8mm spanner or adjustable wrench - Bleed kit or source a nearby pub/cafe to use their sink - Bottle of water (Should you have a bleed kit) - 3mm, 4mm and 5mm allen keys - LighterYou can complete a speedy repair!Remove the offending hose and barb.Cut off the hose from the barb, and remove the small amount of hose on the barb using the stanley knife.Gently warm the end of the hose, and work the barb in as far as you can by hand.Remove one of your slave cylinders, and use the clamps to gently pinch the hose. Just enough to stop it moving.Using the hammer, or other heavy object, gently tap the barb the remaining amount needed to seat the hose at the base of the barb, holding the hose by the clamp to support it.Re-attach the crossover/hose to the slave/lever.Bleed the brake with the method of your choice! I borrowed a mates bleed kit and bought a bottle of water and did it that way, although a bath bleed in a sink, or bleeding with oil should you carry it around can be done also. It's maybe a tad more kit than you'd wish to cart about, but its a handy way to ensure you can stay out and ride should you split a hose! Saved me cutting my ride short. It's easier to carry a spare crossover, but this is merely an alternative for those that dont and want to ride on Edited November 4, 2012 by Echo Lite 09

bing
I carry a spare crossover... Good idea though, like it was gonna say this but didn't want to appear to be trolling. good idea though Sam. for added easiness, you need a cut off spoke and nipple to ease the driving in process cough cough *awaits trolls* Edited November 4, 2012 by bing
SamKidney
Wouldnt have been trolling, it is the better idea to have a spare crossover at hand, but I know many wont. It was very easy as it was without the spoke, but a good suggestion!

AdamR28
Good idea! Heating the hose isn't necessary though, plus it makes is weaker.
