isitafox
If you can afford then get a Der Kaiser, easily the best 26" rear tyre available
Jake.
Tryall stiky lite or continental mountain kings are what I'm going to be using when I get stock. Continental for street and tryall for natural due to thicker sidewalls I've heard. Edited November 1, 2012 by JMCD
Ali C
if you are able to get a der kaiser and don't, then you've done it wrong.

SamKidney
Der Kaiser is a properly good all round tyre.

Mark W
Conveniently they outlast virtually any other 'good' tyre, so in a long-term sense they work out better financially and performance wise.

isitafox
t'is true, I bought a 2nd hand one and ran it for a year and a half and it still had loads of grip and life in it

narrowbars
Worth every penny, might wanna buy it soon though as pretty sure it's been discontinued There is however a new version on it's way http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/08/28/continental-adds-650bs-der-kaiser-rammstein-dh-x-king-cyclocross-clincher-tubular-tires/

Not entirely sure though, that was gleaned from the Cycle Show and by that stage all I wanted was either a coffee or to punch people out. Hopefully not but last time I checked a certain supplier's b2b there was no expected re-stocking date?
Wrayvon
I just got a Der Kaiser (from CRC - its only £26 there!), and I have to say, it is the hardest tyre to fit in the history of man kind. But now its on, I don't think I need to actually pump my tyres up
isitafox
It's only £26 because it's not the grippy black chilli compound. As for being so hard to fit that's down to the rigid bead, reinforced carcass and double sidewall which sticks another 300g on the weight. Wrayvon
Yeah I saw that, but thought I'd give it a go anyway as the difference is quite a lot! No problems yet
