morriente
Our little girl just came in and told us that she wants a trials bike. She proceeded to take us outside where she gave us a demo on her balance and bumping up kerbs……quite funny! Anyways, were not wanting to buy new until we see if she likes it but kids bikes seem to be quite rare. She's 11yrs, 135cm / 4'5" tall and is gymnast so she's flexible got good balance and amazing strength for her size. What size of bike would she need? Thanks
Laurence--Trials
She would probally need a small and short 20" trials bike of some sort. you're probably best off joining a ride and getting her to try some out so you know where you stand, you might even want smaller than a 20" in which case you'll probably want an 18" mini master or something along the lines of that. isitafox
Something like the Onza Sting would probably be ideal for her but I think you'll struggle to find one 2nd hand. There's probably a similar Monty available but I'm not sure which. A going off her height she's just getting too big for a mini master. Jake.
She's in the twilight zone between 18" and 20"... Get a 20" with a super short stem, short wb low bb etc etc and just make the stem longer over time.
Robin M S/c
Def too big for a mini master. Adam has been on a monty 207 (20" wheels front and rear) for 4 years now. Think she sounds right for that size but they are quite rare second hand. A normal 20"/19" is about 4" longer than a 207.
morriente
I've seen an Onza Sting about an hour away from us. I think due to kids bikes being a bit on the scarce side i'm just gonna grab it. The specs say that its for kids between 4' and 5' so it sounds about right. Robin M S/c
Sting will be a good compromise on size. Longer than a 207 but shorter than a full size 20". If they get into it then it could be upgraded to make it better.
bing
stings are 970wb. should be ok with a short stem and low rise bars
Ash-Kennard
have a look for the old dabomb bikes. the one im thinking of is a 20" and is very low. not a bad bike at all. if not look at old montys, or obviously the sting, but i have no experience with those. good luck, hope she enjoys it this is the dabomb Edited October 30, 2012 by Ash-Kennard
