Going From 20"/24" To 26".

Hey there guys,

I'm really interested in going 26" now, I've heard from a couple of people that they're hard to use, heavy, etc.

I've ridden a 24" echo trial, and I got along with that really well. However I want to make the transfer to 26", I think a geo with around 70bb, 380cs, 1080-1090wb and 72 HA will suit me. I'm not sure though.

Is the difference between 24" and 26" huge? I know there's a few threads about 26" bikes and choosing which to ride. But I'm trying to find out how difference it'll be between 24" and 26", and if I'll loose much of my ability.

If height matters, I'm 5"11.

I seem to be able to go between all sizes pretty comfortably.

I went from 20" to to 26" and then back again without too much of a hit to my ability, and then on to 24" which I'd never even tried.

I rode a Sky 2 26" the other weekend and its the nicest stock Ive ever ridden. Instantly comfortable. Similar geo to that you've got in mind.

Switched between it and my 24" all day without knocking how I was riding. All down to set up. If you set it up with heavy parts, its going to feel cumbersome.

My Ozonys Curve was relatively light, and rode really nicely, but could still have been miles lighter.

Im around 6ft 1". Go out and try a few peoples stocks if you can, and see how different geo's feel.

I rode my cousins 26 pure after riding my 24" and to be honest it feels pretty much the same but i feel higher off the ground and its obviously a little less flicky and harder to move about but i think thats cause its a tad heavier than my 24. But at the moment the 26 has better choice of tyres (until next year when 24 tryalls are out) and more choice of rims :)

when i went from mod to stock i found it easier to do most moves :)

You look really comfortable on stock, I guess it is all down to trying new stuff until you get exactly what you like.

Gonna be gutted if I got a 26" and it felt horrible to me haha.

Im the exact same height and moved from a echo trial to a stock with the same geo as described (limey 4), depending od what stem you run it can feel a little big, but definately not cumbersome or hard to move around at all

I would say its the best decision ive made, progressed so much faster
