Tony Harrison
I'm trying to find out the standard way a spoke is measured. Unfortunately all the Google searching I've done ends up with topics on other forums with replies going off on tangents about wheel dishing and length calculation, etc, etc. Anybody have a diagram? I will be disassembling some (BMX!) wheels later with a view to replacing the spokes. Rather than measuring up the hubs and rims and calculating the length I thought I'd just measure the old spokes, seeing as the wheels haven't been ridden that hard. Thanks! Greetings
Is it actually the yellow line, or the length between where the spoke straightens out and the end?
Tony Harrison
Thanks Luke. I've seen someone else mention inside of the elbow but I wasn't sure exactly what that meant. The picture looks easy enough to follow though ; )
JD™
Is it actually the yellow line, or the length between where the spoke straightens out and the end? This seems to suggest that it'd be as Luke has drawn
Luke Rainbird
Is it actually the yellow line, or the length between where the spoke straightens out and the end? They're near enough the same place so the real-world difference is pretty negligible
