CC12345678910
This'll have to be quick cos i've got class in a minute. Need one for front of a fourplay. What are they like in wire bead cos LBS can order me one for £20. (Sight unseen unfortunately) How are they that light? Is is paper thin? I have problems with the moto rt tucking and folding on spins if the pressures not right. Don't want that any worse, can cope at the mo. Or have they got no tread profile at all like a XC racer tyre? Thanks loads. Ciaran Edited October 22, 2012 by CC12345678910
dezmtber
i run one on the rear, real nice tyres. the sidewalls are fairly thin but there no xc race tyre. closest tyre to it would be a maxxis highroller or moto rt i will be running the table top on the rear and a mow joe front soon also Edited October 22, 2012 by dezmtber
Jake.
A mate ran them an an echo 24, punctured every ride about 3 times.
FamilyBiker
would recommend it only on the front.managed to pinch flat it on dirt jumps, running at 4 bar(60 psi)hitting a rounded stone that was stuck in the dirt at the lip of the kicker, was a funny landing.anti-urban tire! highroller a 3 years old one yeah
dezmtber
guess it depends if your ride smooth or are a bit clumbsy or powerfull. most tyres will be ok used with the right combo of tube. if you run a thin tyre combine it with a thick dh tube to stop pinch punctures. if you use cheap thin tubes then go for a thick dual ply tyre. or risk it and run thin tyres with thin tubes, but if you are going to run thin tubes dont buy them from wilkinsons or mental cheap the rubber is so cheap it pretty much always punctures
ULtrialsguy
I run them on the front and rear and yes they are very pinch flat prone and I use DH tubes. They have very little rolling resistance so you can roll very far with little effort backwards or whatever you want to do. If you like low psi so you can get good bounce then I wouldn't recommend them as you will puncture them unless you're very smooth and never hit edges hard at all. dezmtber
i use 35psi in mine for trials and 50psi for park use. a lot more than 25psi front and rear on my mod with creepy crawler rear and mow joe front Edited October 23, 2012 by dezmtber
CC12345678910
So the punchures will be no worse than the moto rt? Great! cos I've never pinched (at 45 pound it has got to be really rough to pinch, surely). Only random rubbish like glass, sharp metal, a staple (???) and a phantom slow the other night with a hole on inner middle of the rim and no reason whatsoever to be there. Now what about the tread profile, or lack of it as the case mabye? This is because the moto has lasted very well, got to have put it on around feb/march time and it it's got > 1 month worth of tread left at the mo. All the time doing loads of front wheel stuff down the park. Your comments are of course appriecated very much. Ciaran
ULtrialsguy
I would consider them to be a very streety/dirt jumper tyre. They seem to have a fair amount of grip but nothing compared to try-all stickys or anything like that. They should be fine for the front of a fourplay assuming you run high enough psi. CC12345678910
I'm still concerned that the tread depth may be non existant, making it go bald in no time. Like I said in the first post i'm buying blind on special order, so turning round and saying 'it's not what I thought it'd be like, I don't want it' is a bit rough. Could somone say about this please. Cheers. Edited October 24, 2012 by CC12345678910
Pete.M
The tread is obviously fairly small in depth, but not stupidly small. I've had some on a jump bike for quite a while and they've not worn that much. I'd imagine a trials bike is harsher on tyres though. I'd suggest that you get something else, I wouldn't use them for trials. As probably said already, they are terrifying in the wet, and get punctures too easily. Could you give a grip comparison to a moto rt, moto digger or holyroller? these are tyres i've used before so I know what to expect. Jake.
Why can't you just get a kenda small block or a tyre that's trusted? The tread is about 3mm deep between blocks.

The reason I didn't recommend another tyre is because, in truth, I haven't tried that many. I've never tried any of the ones you listed there! Continental X-King is pretty good on the front, and only 680 grams. (I think)
dezmtber
The MOTO and holyroller will last longer. The table top will last simmilar to the digger. But grips better in park use than a digger but not a good as the maxxis. If I had more clearance in the rear I would run a maxxis rear and the table top front. ULtrialsguy
They grip well in the dry but not in the wet. I've had mine for a few months now and the tread is still going strong, you wouldn't know it was old at all.
dezmtber
i wish someone would make a soft compound street tyre as none of them grip well in the wet
CalopS
The Holy rollers are pretty good when there new. The new Danny Mac tyre is supposed to be softer though but I don't know when they will be out.

Revolver
A bit of a bump but I've read people complaining about their schwalbe big betty tyres. Mine's fine, did everyone else make sure to get the trailstar compound one? They make some harder ones which might be where you get the impression yours is shit.
