clerictgm
Whine whinge whinge. It's obvious that baggy jeans might get caught in something at some point. It's obvious that shorts will be cold when it's cold. It's obvious that skinnys might not be to everyone's taste. Protip: if you don't want to hurt yourself, try knitting or something. Brettoll
This reminds me of the story I heard years ago that Hawzee got his nuts stuck between his tyre and magura brace.... But my 2p is I've always rocked straight leg jeans, not too baggy but not skinny and found them alright

clerictgm
nuts stuck between his tyre and magura brace.... It's real danger. One of our local riders was in the same painful situation.. half an hour he was lying on the floor in suffering.. SamKidney
It happens anyway. Ive done the same thing, twice. Once in my mtb, and once in my bmx. It hurts, bad.
bikeperson45
Could be worse though, like that BMXer in the skinny jeans who had his scrotum ripped open.
Andeee
Skinny jeans? Urghh Jeans have got to be the most uncomfortable thing ever to wear when riding( Whether its a trials bike , fixie bike or a xc full suss either way it does not feel right lol) . Feels like there is so much restriction no matter what style of jean it is. Shorts, trackies or jogg bottoms are best and comfiest imo. SamKidney
Good fit straight leg/skinny doesnt restrict movement at all really... Its all Ive worn riding really, and find it just as easy as riding in shorts. But yeah, I wouldnt ride in trackies purely because I wouldnt want to be seen in them. They tear too easily, and I look a nob in them haha. Edited October 18, 2012 by Echo Lite

SamKidney
Chinos are a no go. My mate has torn a set every time hes ridden. Hes got the message now. Rides in skinyish jeans now.
Revolver
Chinos are also an awful colour and only reveal that you've been a victim of copying everyone else instead of using your own sense.

Mark W
It's probably worth pointing out that there are more than two different tightnesses (word f**king up, bitches) of jeans - I prefer slim/skinny fit because it doesn't feel like you're riding around with sacks strapped to your legs. Wearing really baggy clothing just makes me feel 'heavier' (closest word I can really think of to describe it). I don't really want to ride in skin-tight shit either, but a nicely fitting pair of jeans is way better than loose stuff. Different jeans have different cuts too, so you could theoretically have some really baggy jeans that would restrict your movement because the actual shape is poo. Conversely, you could have some tight jeans that are well cut so you don't get any restriction of movement. But yeah, who gives a f**k? EDIT: I also misunderstood the topic title, bloody double negatives. Apparently you missed the 24Tour 2012 revision session
Brettoll
I was wondering if had hit yet, skinny's were a no no for ages then started filtering in.... just hoping that Chino's didn't follow suit and become acceptable when riding
Ross McArthur
Its the jobby catching jeans and chinos you see folk in now a days with the stretchy bit at the bottom that freak me out.
g1nge@trials
i am constantly wearing chinos ( also have some with that stretchy bit on the ankle bits) i haven't followed any trend as I have properly worn them for over 5 years, i dont have any jeans and i dont actually own any jeans atm, jeans just feel too heavy to ride in. clerictgm
And your point? From what I've seen from your time here, you'd complain it was too sunny. How the f**k you can say that I'm whine if you can't even imagine what climate is in my city? I ride even in -30°C and if it's windless it's better than +0-3°C with 100% humidity and wind. ~95% of riders in our city stops to ride until spring. There are 5 f**king months of SNOW. Luke Rainbird
Those jeans/chinos/etc with the elasticated cuff at the bottom are just f**king ridiculous, you look like a failed attempt at MC Hammer and he hardly pulled it off in the first place. Why on Earth anyone with a sense of sight would wear them is beyond me.
