trialsiain
just seen this on facebook think they will be better than maguras? http://www.trial-bik...e-p-536662.html Edited October 17, 2012 by trialsiain
LEON
How can they NOT be better than the new Maguras?
Martin Reynolds
Is that springs helping the pads return? What a lashup!
SamKidney
I'm looking forward to hearing how they compare. Not enough to buy one myself mind. I like to know things are proven before I buy them in most cases.
J.KYDD
More info on these brakes in this thread from a while back http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/170511-csc-rim-brakes/page__hl__%20csc%20%20brake
Mark W
How can they NOT be better than the new Maguras? Well, for a start... Is that springs helping the pads return? What a lashup! ...a few other 'interesting' bits too.
J.KYDD
...a few other 'interesting' bits too. Go on...
Martin Reynolds
...a few other 'interesting' bits too. Now that i look at it, why do you need massive holes for the cylinder bolts? i guess to compensate for the lack of inwards/outwards adjustment? The levers look uncomfortable too
SamKidney
The little springs are the pad retention system, which isnt ideal. The slaves pistons aren't retained within the slave, as per magura/echo slaves. They can slide straight out. Its just vacuum pressure holding them in. They've missed a trick there for sure. I could see them being far more appealing with an integrated piston, with a sprung return and the conventional pad retention system.
J.KYDD
...and a nicer lever. That one looks like its got a really wide, flat face - not nice
SamKidney
They just look a bit shite in general. Its dead easy to set up a brake using clamps and washers, even easier with washerless clamps. I could imagine that the integrated slave/clamp could be an issue on some frames, especially in terms of vertical adjustment.
Revolver
What's with that shitty spring? So to use these with any other pads you have to make a hole in your pads?
trialsiain
yea that seems naff
stunt man t
so you couldnt use Tnn pads or heatsinks because the spring wouldnt go through?? ill stick to the maguras thankyou

trials hoe
did they make these with the intention of not using any of maguras patents? those springs look like a rude bodge
Mark W
Go on... It's pretty much been covered really. Having seen the amount of riders who break/damage bolts too, using tiny little bolts for the cylinder adjustment seems risky. They shouldn't need to be torqued up much but I don't think that'll really make much difference to how much people really do tighten them. What also seems weird is that to tighten/loosen the bleed bolts, instead of using a cap head system like Magura bolts you have to use a thin allen key perpendicularly through the bolt head. I don't really get why you'd opt to do that... did they make these with the intention of not using any of maguras patents? It seems that way. SamKidney
I suppose you could drill a wee hole in the center at the base of the material to pass the spring through to allow any pad to be ran.... but you shouldnt have to haha
315r
some solutions are amazing, but others are pure shit, like the spring crossing the pad.
