Hello there forum, so I'm thinking of getting some refills shortly and I'd just like to know how these perform,

anyone who's used/tested these, how do they compare to LGMs? normally I'd trust any TNN product but since I found the Belaeys were a little disappointing I thought it'd best to be sure, Is it worth getting them? or should I stick to LGMs?

Slightly off topic, but i can't take you serious with that avatar!

Anyway, from what i've heard from a mate who rides for TNN, the blacks/ADM's are supposed to be the best pads out there.

even better than real cousts!

My cousts where amazing, never let me down once.

Also love the fact there's plenty of beef on them.

I had someone tell me that once, I had a go on their bike and I had them slip out when I tried to backwheel a wall. I think he thought they were good because they had lots of bite and made a loud noise,

Yeah, I was in the same position as you but Cap and Stan's brakes do feel really good. I only had a play on the off-camber stuff in the warehouse, but Cap and Stan have been booting it around in comps and on natural recently and both seem really happy with them.

I couldn't really see how you could improve the LGMs, but apparently it was do-able :P

LGM's are so good when it comes to out and out power.

ADM's are very powerful too, very bitey and hold brilliantly. They seem to require less maintenance than the LGM's.

I found the LGM's need a relatively fresh grind to get that raw power out of them, which is no problem, a grind only takes 5 minutes.

The ADM's remain extremely consistent right through the grind. Ran mine from a medium grind all the way through to a dull grind, almost smooth infact, and they still held predicatbly, and bit pretty nicely too, with a good sound. Obviously wet weather performance is compromised with the duller grind, but in the dry I could ride normally with no worry of my brake slipping out on me.

Mind you, my last set of LGM's were the same. I chamfered those, and ran them from harsh to smooth, and they worked all the way through.

Worked surprisingly well in the wet on a dull grind up at Shipley Glen. Rain, snow, hail, mud and dirt and they still worked well enough to ride with confidence.

The ADM's are just the same, if not a tad better!

Your onto a winner with either.

nearly caused me a broken arm, 2 trips to the hospital after being forced to go by my college as you could see the bone sticking out of my arm, really really shocking pads...

luckily my arm was only disolocated and all the docor had to do was pull and twist it... still really really painful. won't ever use coust pads again. my lgms were 10,000 times better.

message to everybody...

DON'T BUY COUST PADS.

fully bled brake, never failed before... ground rim, not a dead grind, brake setup nicely, was all going well untill that.

JMCD a bit more simpathetic please :P

I was sympathetic for like 5 days on facebook when you told me your story about it. :P I think I deserve the pads. ;)

Last time I saw cousts in action was with Adam Baxter (hello if you're reading this) plastic backed and they seemed to work rather well....

I 100% promise you that will be due to other factors not the pads.

The big factor being he can't ride a bike ;)

Lol pad war!

So what rim do these lgm pads work on because I found they so shit. Yes they are so loud you need ear plugs loads of bite but no hold ?

Never have any problems with the belaey pads. Apart from ear breaking sounds.

Yea cousts are good if you like bite. They don't really have that much hold

So what rim do these lgm pads work on because I found they so shit.

Cap's used them on the Try-All Reinforced Drilled as well as the Trialtech SL. I used them on the same type of Try-All rim too. Seen them used on the RockMan/Try-All single wall rims too to pretty good effect. Ali's used the LGVs on a bunch of different rims including some pretty random MTB rims.

They seem pretty dependent on the grind in fairness. When Cap first had them he couldn't really get them to work that well and used to get me to grind his rim for him because that seemed to be the only way to get them to work (which was weird...). That might say more about Cap's grind technique rather than the pads though :P

I agree about the Cousts though. I used some 'original' Coust material back in the day and wasn't really that impressed with them, especially considering the hype they get.
