Jake.
Yeah plus everything looks and feels huge on a mod, yet you can ride it all. Makes you feel like 'the f**k, I got up THAT on THIS?'.
BradJohnson
I rode terrible on the mod, i couldn't gap or pedal up, very big. I got the 24" and i'm so much better, i'm more confident and more comfortable. I dare say by next summer i'll have a new 24" rig and another nice short DD mod, cause by then my technique will be a lot better and the mod will feel effortless (thats the plan anyway) . SamKidney
Yeah plus everything looks and feels huge on a mod, yet you can ride it all. Makes you feel like 'the f**k, I got up THAT on THIS?'. Yeah that feels awesome I progressed massively on my Ozonys Curve 26", but when that and its forks cracked, I went back to riding mod. Rode both an old Echo Team frame, and an ST, and the best mod riding I've done was on that old GU, with a geo I wasnt 100% with. Going up the stuff I did on my Ozonys on the GU felt so good haha. I love the new Echo's, or the old Koxx White Sky's, so a dinky version of my 24" is a very appealing prospect. I'd love a really compy dual disc/dual magura mod. Dual mag seems appropriate. One thing I miss is being able to do a sidehop to rear wheel with confidence. I dont like my fat albert at all, so I rarely do them, where as my Try-Alls/ Maxxis on my stock/mod gripped like foook every time. dann2707
Gash photos but now has a 165 x 35 stem on which has been rawed to silver, rawed the bars too as white isn't cool. Made my own downtube protector using PVC drainpipe with soft foam behind it. Got a massive length for £2 so can make loads when they snap ha. Still needs something changing up front though, rides not how I like at all and it's a bit depressing as I feel like i've gotten so much worse since the comp . Think it's a combo of +85bb and low low rise bars. On a plus, I sorted out the spongy rear brake and now it feels literally insane.

Jake.
Looks nice, try a 180x35 stem if you can, and trialtech high rise or tryall carbons.
bike_dummie
Nice to see im not the only one who uses a piece of PVC pipe for a downtube protector! Get rid of that foam and the zip ties and glue it on with some silicone sealant. Put loads of sealant in as it will act like the foam you are using now. Hold it on with a few heavy duty zip ties until it dries (take about a week) with a 2/3 cm gap in between each one. Lovely bike as well EDIT - It wont snap either mine out lasted my frame! dann2707
wat bars you running? got some viz and monty 221 bars you can borrow if you like They are try all mid riser bars mate. I think them two are quite similar geo so might just hold out for some tt high risers. Really appreciate the offer though! Cheers matt. bike_dummie
It will stick with no problems along as you let the glue dry as i found it takes at least a week as you will need to use quite abit of glue to enable a small bit of flex so it can fit round the bash mount. Once dried it should be fine though. You may also need to file the bash mount down abit depending on how much it sticks out, had to do this to my 2011 echo lite. Tell a lie i actually removed mine which left a hole in the frame but it was covered by a huge guest so it was fine . Easy enough with a course b*****d file so no grinder ect needed. Edit - I suppose if you really wanted to you could key the plastic and the frame with some light emery but the silicone sticks with no problems. You will also need to fill the ends with silicone once the zip ties are removed as it looks better and prevents water getting in. Forgot to mention you will need to use Heavy duty zip ties as normal ones snap under the pressure and they cant be tightened enough aswell with extra round the bash mount. May want to add some glue to the edges of the zip ties just to stop the moving. Edited November 24, 2012 by bike_dummie
bike_dummie
Only picture i could find but you can see that the downtube protector is in pretty good nick even after loads of hard hits from failed pedal ups ect. Wish i could say the same for the frame. Also used the rest of the silicone to stick some reinforced pipe to the chainstays to prevent damage as i was riding the local skate park (its a super pathetic park but better than nothing ) as it is only round the corner and the right angled coping was eating my frame away. It also works well aslong as you cut the tube correctly! Edited November 24, 2012 by bike_dummie
