Frame Stripping.

I've been stripping my frame today, its powder coated, and i'm using nitromorse to strip it. Its like mission impossible, i've been doing it for about for hours and i've done the heatube, gussets (okay ish) the top and down tube (a shitty job on that, still a fair amount to do) and the chainstays (hardly any)

i dont feel like it should be this much effort, i thought the whole frame would be done in a cupple hours. I'm using a wire bush to take the paint off after the nitromorse has been on for about 10 minuites (i've tried 20 minuites like it says on the tin but its harder than it is at 10 minuites.)

any tips?

Yep, ditch the nitromorse!

I assume it's the "new stronger formula" version that you've got if it's taking that long? I go for some unbranded stuff in a red tin from my local hardware store now as it's much more powerful like the old nitromorse was. If however you are already using the older stuff then I honestly have no tips to speed up the process, maybe attack the untreated paint with some rough sandpaper first to let it penetrate easier???

tried dot 3 brake fluid? works a treat on normal paint......wouldn't like to clean it up afterwards though haha,

i remember having some spray-on stuff years ago worked ace took like 2mins strip it back, dunno what it was called but it had a pic of a plane on the front of the tin........ not very helpful i know but ill have a google.

Yeah i think it might be new stuff, had a feeling i read somewhere that it used to be stronger. The stuff im using is like jelly and is green with a green tin. Doesn't smell strong or anything like that.

Try sanding the powdercoated stuff to shit with some rough stuff, till it's all ugly, then strip it off and see that smooooth metal.

All right baby, all night.

Already tired this..

whack some pics up mate im intreagued...

Can't now, given it to kenny to strip down, i got fed up and tired.

Wouldn't really want to try dot 3, too messy and greasy. Thanks, if my mate can't get it off then i'll look for your plane fluid ;)

Found this, might explain the "old stronger version" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitromors

How much does all this stuff cost. I just take mine to the local spray shop LSN coatings. Bloke there has like a big metal box filled with acid. Chuck it in there over night. He takes it out then pressure washes it. Only 5-10 quid. Easy.
