Andeee
So after a great summer and getting some lines i was pleased with i thought id share a raw clips video. I have been trying to get out as much as i can over the summer i am lucky to get out once or twice a week. The only thing i seem to hate about my riding and i have had this as feedback from others is trying not to look so stiff and loosen up. This is one thing i seem to cannot do to resolve my riding style. Maybe someone could point me in a good direction to fix this? Already i try to not rush when i try something and also i try to keep my balance and stature. Hmmm :/ I also get the feeling that my bike never feels right to ride and main concern is my bar n stem combo if anything. Echo TR Bars tilted forward and a trialtech 130x25 and im 5ft10. I would just like to feel right and comfortable on my bike! Edited October 2, 2012 by Andeee

I had the same problem when i had my mod and didn't really know what it was but tried a few different bar and stem combo's and it didn't change. I felt quite tall on it and when i hopped onto a 24 or stock i always felt at home. Tried a 24" as that might help being a bit smaller? Me on the mod and yeah I look stiff.. Now ride a 24" Inspired and don't feel/look stiff any more
SamKidney
Ive said before Andy, its those Echo TR bars your running. They're dreadful things, and have no real feel to them. Get some nicer bars in there and possibly a slightly longer and higher stem. Im around 6ftish now, and I ran a rockman stem and highrise bars on my ozonys. Was a short stem, but the rise on the bars sort of evened things out. When I last had a bounce on your bike, in Hull I think, the front end just felt too short and low, at least for my liking anyway. liam n
You seem to be doing quite well so far, getting technique and bike control is all practise! once you're more confident with bike control and your abilities you won't be so stiff on the bike. so keep riding! I can't tell whether you BB is +55 or +85 ? but I'm 5' 10 and I ride an echo pure 2012 which is +55. I use Viz. 720 bars tilted forward and a 125 * 25 stem. and it works fine for me and I feel comfortable on it. when you ride you seem to have very little control staying on the back wheel and you seem to pedal kick forward a lot to keep the front end up. try getting rid of those stem stacker and your font wheel should sit higher up when your on the back wheel giving you better control on your rear wheel. practise doing smaller hops/staying stationary on the rear wheel with very little movement. you also seem to drag your brake far to much, go easy on the brake. unscrewing your TPA a bit might help you to get your head round not applying the brake so early. (when your gapping you apply breaks almost as soon as you leave the first object, you want to apply them about 3/4 of the way through the gap) When gapping, try taking off when stationary doing small hops (that aren't really pedal kicks) just before gapping. and when you do gap try gapping sideways more. (forward foot facing away from the gap) as you can use your hips to push the bike further in front of you (son't over do the sideways-ness though!) EDIT: Sam is right nicer bars will help the feel of the bike. but i think he may be wrong about the higher stem. higher stem means wheel closer to the ground so you have to lean back more to stay steady on the rear. try removing stem stacker's for a while before spending any money! the mysterious leemur
Agree with the point on the bars my riding is miles smoother running rage bars than when I used Echo's , for loosening up how about doing stuff like stretches and working on flexibility , I do remember hearing somebody say that a few comp riders do not quite yoga but similar to get more flexible , just a thought. thinkdougie
Stop thinking about it, I think your tensing up because your nervous about what your gonna do, I was watching you today hopping up the little wall at gocar, backing out of it and tensing your body up like your waiting to fall. Grab your bike and ride it! Smash it up who cares. Its the best way!
Andeee
Many thanks everyone for the feedback means a lot. Just to answer all questions as i cannot be bothered to individually quote lol . My stacker height i only have a 5mm one and thats it! Changing bars is an option as the last set i had were trialtech sports so i may do that. ( I thought id give high rise a try to see how good they were but i have been running them for a year now) Any good recommendations on bars? Thanks Andy My TPA is wound all the way out and i have a slight buckle in my wheel :3 Im gonna give it a try pressing my brake 3/4 towards near a gap in mid air. Hopefully this may help . THIS may be it actually. I am in training for a 2 day fell race at the end of the month and therefore running a lot at the moment. So obviously stretching before and after each run - when I used to ride I would never think about stretching.. from when I started running more and stretching before my muscles were really tight especially my legs. I think this has something to do with it as I now feel more relaxed on the bike as well. Doesn't cost either

Danny00135
I used to ride a little like you and couldn't really resolve it, My front brake basically died and since I couldn't afford a new one I just rode without, I found that it forces you to track stand instead of rocking giving you much better balance and makes your riding much much smoother. Try taking off your front brake for a bit, if you see no improvement put it back on, what have you got to loose really
