dave33
Assuming you mean the current style of Try-All stem, we've sold over 350 of those stems and we've had 2 back, ever. It doesn't really seem like much to worry about. Dave's post is the first time I've seen anyone on any forum or 'in real life' express any form of concern/issue about the strength of those stems. The forged version should be stronger, but it's not like the current ones are weak. Yea they tent to crack and snap on the weld underneath. Just like the nuc ones. Just shows what you know eh
casualjoe
New design is way better than the welded ones. The welding on my stem was a bit naff for such an important weld, it lasted a year of sporadic riding so cant complain.

Just shows what you know eh I don't really get what camping has to do with anything? Like I said before, 350+ with only 2 breaking seems like a pretty good record to me. Virtually no mentions of them breaking online, good reviews from everyone who uses them, quite a few top riders who've bought them from us using them for a long time with absolutely no issues - but no doubt you know best Dave.

Maybe next time you see jack Carthy if you ask nice he might show you his scares from when he snapped his. Was also chatting to Giles father about them. He changes his faily regular as he said they crack with him. You mentioned top riders. They are pretty top. Not saying I know best. I'm totally bitter about not getting to test those pads your right, as you ok that you didn't get to test them??
ghostrider88
. I'm totally bitter about not getting to test those pads your right, as you ok that you didn't get to test them?? They are hard to fit in the saints you know?Anyway,I would like to see one stem that would last them longer, doing front wheel stuff 90% of time is somewhat hard on them, but what do I know. Have you not seen it? It's the new FORGED try all stem. What's wrong with going to front wheel again ?

SamKidney
To be honest, we're not all Giles and Carthy though, are we? The older Try-All stems (3D) are fine for almost every rider, which is what Try-All would have aimed to achieve. A welded stem wont last as long as a fully forged item, that's given, regardless of skill level. Obviously, the bigger your riding is, the more stress is exerted through it, which is why Carthy and Giles regularly change their stems. It makes sense for them to. The Try-All 3d/Rockman stems are probably the most robust welded stems out.
dann2707
The stigma against Tarty / trials forum in general gets tedious as fuck. Give it up, Christ.

Totally agree, I'm just answering the question that was why have they brought out a new non welded stem Reasons are welded areas fatigue and eventually crack/snap in time under stress I'm just saying if you have that stem and go hard then it just takes a few mins just to inspect it for cracking. Might save you face If your light and smooth you probly won't need to Just pointing out some facts that's all

The whole point of this argument is, that once again someone, in this case knows 2(yeah two)people who managed to brake/crack whatever this stem. Coincidently they are deffo in the top five in the world when it comes to front wheel moves which would kill every damn stem on the market, even the ones that are 50g heavier. On the other hand, Mark says he has over 300 of happy customers. So which info is more important to normal rider like 99% of people on this forum are? I sure as hell wouldn´t be affraid to use that stem just because two monsters managed to snap few.Plus, if they are still using them, I guess they aren´t so life threatening. dave33
I'm not trying to start an argument but just because riders such as Carthy and Gilles go massive don't mean that they are ruff as f**k and putting massive amounts of stress on there bike does it? They are actually really smooth riders There are alot of riders out there at a much much lower lever putting pay more stress throught stuff on there bike Landing like a sack of shit and smashing f**k out of there bikes So your %99 isn't really correct
