onza pro series guy
Alright so after being tempted for ages and after riding today and not using them, I have decided to bite the bullet and join this brakeless hype. But I have a Hope Mono Trial on the front which is currently routed through my forks. I got this done at a friends bike shop and although I know I have to take the hose off at one end and remove the fittings I don't really know where to start. I don't want to go un-doing bolts willy-nilly! So I want to keep as much fluid as possible in the system and generally make it easy as possible for myself. How would you guys go about doing this? SamKidney
Be very careful. Undo the fitting at the lever end, without pulling the lever at all, and pull the hose down out through the steerer tube. Then reattach the hose to the lever, and then remove the lever and calliper from the bike. Just go steady with everything. The tiny amount of air that may end up in there should find its way up into the reservoir and the brake will firm up again.
onza pro series guy
okay, thats what I was thinking but was worried whatever was in the reservoir would go everywhere?
SamKidney
okay, thats what I was thinking but was worried whatever was in the reservoir would go everywhere? Orientate the bike so that the opening is upward facing The job can be done with the bike on its side until you have reattached the hose. shercofray
When you undo the hose at the lever end it won't just slide through your top cap. I think you have to cut the hose and fit the little brass insert inside again. I'm not 100% sure how you do this as I haven't before. Not quite as simple as removing the hose from lever.. SamKidney
Depends on the type of top cap. Its not something I considered to be fair haha. Edited September 30, 2012 by Echo Lite
