Matthew62
Reminds me of a quote I read from a road bike manufacturer yesterday.... "All wine is red. All carbon is black, but not all carbon is the same". Think about it yeah.....

clerictgm
Hmm,you seen to discover well known facts almost every week, have fun Well-known? Hmm.. If this pedals was under pressure by frrrreaking 4m dropgaps for 1 year and then snaps - it's ok. But when some newbie that can only pedal kick and scared to drop from 60cm snaps it... it shows how bad quality of that pedals is. I have some cheap steel 2.5 years old wellgo copy and they-re serves me great and I have not a single problem with them. Nah,what I was trying to say is that echo spindles are prolly the weakest spindles out of any pedals designed with trials in mind(or any kind of agressive riding). Assuming you're talking about the steel ones too, not true! my echo tr platforms are 2 years 2 months old and the only problem i've ever had with them is one of the bolts cracked into 3, which was easily replaced. Still going strong. Also, they now look like this.

You don´t go big or are heavy or harsh beginner...My brother broke his steel version in less than 6months and he was less than 150lbs back then. They are thin and noone who knows what he is talking about won´t say otherwise. Mark W
I had a set of the original TR platforms that lasted me a long time on my 24, and then got sold on to someone else who's still using them. Pedal longevity is sort of like bars in a sense - you can have a freak crash where you tank your bars and bend/break them, whereas the rest of the time they can be fine. The end of the crank arm in the original picture looks pretty scratched/battered, which would suggest the pedals had probably taken some abuse too? They're superlight pedals so they're not really ideal for beginners as they'll often be hitting their pedals more.

I think anyone who buys lightweight parts should expect to break them at some time, and he may be a beginner.. which means he isnt as smooth as someone whos been riding longer, so he probably puts more strain on them than a pro rider would.
