Static Jump W/bike = Static Jump W/o Bike?

Hello TF! Let me start off by saying that I am a returning member who used to waste his time on here back in 2004-2008. Anyway I have recently got back into trials (currently unemployed so guess who has time on his hands) and I fixed my old bike back together after having left it alone since 2008 (I am rockin' a 2004 pitbull). So anyway I have a few questions:

For those guys who have been riding for a decent amount of time (say 2years+), can you static jump (on foot I mean and with no run up) slightly lower, about the same or higher than you can sidehop? The reason I ask is because both my sidehop and my static jump without a bike is about the same height and I was wondering if this was indeed the limiting factor.

Secondly, I have noticed that everybody is riding a high BB rise nowadays! What happened there? My pitbull I think has 00mm or maybe +10mm BB rise at the absolute most and this was totally normal back when long low and silver roamed the streets. What advantage does this high-rise BB confer, if any?

This is my fourth year riding.

My max side height is 51", but I cant match that from a static jump on my feet.

Definitely not the limiting factor. The length of the bike adds leverage, and the tyre adds bounce, meaning you can, after a while riding and grasping sidehops, go higher on a bike.

High bottom brackets are awesome! But not everyones a fan.

High BB tends to give more rear wheel control, and makes static moves far easier Ive found and gives more ground clearance (for those that ride natural, comps or technical tgs/ street).

I really like it. +70 is my preferred height on mod, 24" and stock.
