tpickup
snapped chain learning pedal kicks, then had realisation if that happened when you were a considerable amount away from the ground up on and obstacle you would be screwed. wondered if any body has had the bad experience of that happen to them. Jake.
By the time you get good enough to do drop-gaps or big drops I'm sure you'll know your trials bike well, what issues to look for to minimize risk. I saw a video once of a guy going for a gap, chain snapped and he faceplanted. Think he was on a GU stock?

Danny00135
I got set a line over some rocks which were placed in a pond (although at this point it were more like a swamp -.-) anyway I had to skip out the middle rock each time... got over the first one, preloaded on the second, gave an explosive kick, then I was looking at the sky hearing a little bit of laughter, looked in the distance and there was my chain, it had flown over my head and travelled through the air. A pic of me after the tragic incident

VAMPIRE V12
get a kmc 910 should not have any problems with chain snaps haha the worst chain snap for me was when i was riding normally not really doing anything just picking up some speed and i went down like a sack of S**T
bing
I snapped mine on my old inspired trying to do a fakie down the local skatepark. had a right gash on my elbow where I went crashing to the ground like I'd been shot. that was a renolds 3/16ths machine chain as well
SamKidney
Done this on a dropgap, just let go of the bars and rolled out of it. May not be possible in every situation however. Always pays to check your chain over pre ride

Mtchell
I like to change a chain every 2-3 month depending on the amount of riding, I had a snapper in hull on a drop , my right knee took a smashing on the stem....your knees are worth 30 bob every few month
dezmtber
i use the kmc kool chains curently been using a k710sl for 6 months with the split link and it still feels and looks spot on. a bit of advise when buying your chains take a good look at how the pins have been riveted to stop the outer plates spliting the k710sl chain is riveted all round the pin as the pins are hollow. cheap chains has a cross rivet which can be in some cases weaker and more likely to split. . when i used cheaper chains years ago i rearely snaped chains on the link without signs of a failed pin and if they did snap it was usualy at the piont where the kmc k710 is beefed up to not snap. Ben Gosden
Danger is part of riding you gotta expect some painfull times but you could try out some beefed chains especially designed to be stronger than the others and also keep an eye on your sprocket becouse unlike alot of people think they wear down which then wears your chain down at twice the speed. Also a nice healthily lubed chain with help it live a longer life.
