Carlperkins
this is going to be a thread with pictures of my actual bike.. eventually.. but for now heres a rear wheel ive modified to hell.. basically i bought the wheel off a guy on ebay.. i then singlewalled it and rawed it and sold/gave the rim to harmertrials harmertrials laced it onto a rawed echo tr hub harmertrials then sold it to clarkehutchinson who drilled the extra holes in it clarkehutchinson then sold it back to me. i filed the holes to look a bit cooler, countersunk the holes and drilled the hub etc. gave her a scrub and here it is... 938g!!! by the way im not sure how long it will stay round for so i have my spare sl wheel ready to go back on when this one collapses haha more pictures of the actual bike to come...

CalRobbo341
How 'modified' was the rim when you bought it, looks like a Try-All, but I have no idea? edit - Looks like a tear drop sort of shape! I like! Edited September 19, 2012 by CalRobbo341

Carlperkins
How 'modified' was the rim when you bought it, looks like a Try-All, but I have no idea? not at all. just a standard 2010 onza zoot rear rim. double walled and drilled. Carlperkins
you can mod that way more, get that sub 900g! i cba to sit and file the holes more, itll only save like 10g and its not worth the effort. i could do more with the hub, which i may well do, but saved like 300g compared to my old wheel. along with 200g saved off the tyre and 150g off the tube. 650g, quite alot
JDâ„¢
It's not 'modded to fook' though if there's so much more you could do... Those holes next to the spoke holes would make me have sleepless nights as well. Whatever happened to doing things right? I know it wasn't you who drilled them, so someone needs to show that clarke how to use a centre punch!
Ben Gosden
Nice job the rims look okay but that hub looks b*ll**ks!

Carlperkins
It's not 'modded to fook' though if there's so much more you could do... yeeeah i know, but ii thought it was gay to write as a thread title.. "rear wheel slightly modified, could do more but CBA" anyway yeah im not expecting a lot out of it. its just an experiment really to make my bike lighter. Jake.
Was with Jack when he drilled the wheel by the way, weighed it before and after. Saved 5 grammes a wheel HA
Carlperkins
Was with Jack when he drilled the wheel by the way, weighed it before and after. Saved 5 grammes a wheel HA hahaha oh yeah.. well worth it then. drilling and cutting the hubs and what not only saved like 40g.
Martin Reynolds
hahaha oh yeah.. well worth it then. drilling and cutting the hubs and what not only saved like 40g. I'm sure Isitafox did this and saves 50+ grams on single walling alone. I've seen rims with 4 drilled holes around the spokes, looked well done and i doubt it would affect the strength much

dann2707
Definitely modded to fook but I'd say there's a limit when it starts to look gashly modded to fook. No offence
