just been offered a 2012 echo 24 for $760 from aliexpess surely that cant be right?

crazy isnt it, ive seen one for $800, from a seller with loads of really positive feedback. seen his website which top end road bikes as well.

Emailed the guy, he replied within half an hour, really helpful, bike could be here within 15-20 days and would only have cost me £491......

i used the chat thing so contact was instant, asked if they would do a price match on a few bits that were cheaper but from different sellers and they instantly undercut the other prices haha ruthless selling.....

down side is if you order you'll have to order all the bits in one go with the posting cost being a tad expensive (but fair) hence i enquired about a full bike, i want one but don't want to get ripped off........

That seller whos link i posted earlier has free postage via EMS to the UK, maybe worth a look??

My thinking is if im getting the full echo 24 bike for £491 then i can upgrade/change with parts from tartybikes and the bike would still cost less then the UK retail.....

the one for 760 is inc. postage, i linked the seller to the one you put up haha i had a look at the spec i was offered and other than a stem rear rim there isn't much to upgrade its a bargin, a suspicious one at that. you could always get the upgrades from the same seller would be a cheaper option, plus they love a good haggle over money in china.

been thinking about ordering somthing cheapish, an acceptable loss. then again a scammer would be wise to this and wait for a substantial order to fist you with hahaha. 400 quid on a whim is a bit steep though then again it could be legit, i bet its stupid cheap direct from deng's factory gift shop.......

The site is like Amazon, a site that houses loads of sellers sites housed under one roof. The 'site' i.e Aliexpress is a middle man between you and the retailer, so technically the middle man is paying the retailer if that makes sense, and your paying the middle man.

I was looking into this, after customs tax/import tax, you aint saving that much! Think i worked it out that you saved like £100 or summin, not worth it if it turns up faulty and say you need to return it.

how did you go about working out the tax(s)? will also vary as to how its labled from the seller too, a 'gift' ect. i had a google but lost intrest with all the bullshit jargon.....

I am physical proof !

Tell me more though, I've read your earlier post, but that pretty much covers what I had learnt from reading the sight :)

Would you recommend it?

was there a lot of import tax charges?

which seller did you use?

Bike as pictured, any damage etc?

Overall cost if you dont mind sharing that info?

How long did it take to receive the bike?

Hi there,

Thanks for drawing our attention to this thread.

We're pleased to see that you are considering using our service and would like to reassure you that at Alibaba, we’re always working hard to tackle unfair practices on our marketplace. We’ve developed a number of policies and procedures to tackle fraud, and systems of authentication and verification, including our Gold Supplier membership scheme.

Of course, It’s very important to conduct due diligence before you make an order with a new supplier. Hiring a local inspection is a solution. We understand that it will incur extra costs but this can ensure that you are happy with the quality of the products you received. The other suggestion is to order the sample first before you make bulk purchasing.

We recently launched our Product Inspection Service, which means you can find a local inspection agency to check out the products for you before you make the order. You can find the information here: http://bit.ly/AlibabaInspection

You can read more about Safe Trading on Alibaba in this section of our website. http://uk.alibaba.com/knowledge-centre/safe-trading.html

Aliexpress is part of the Alibaba.com group and specialises in smaller orders. You can find a link to the search results on Aliexpress here: http://bit.ly/nCvvQ4

We take the security of purchases very seriously and have implemented a buyer protection scheme with this in mind. I would invite you to read more about buyer protection by visiting the following web page:

Kind regards and happy trading,

The Alibaba.com UK Team
