clerictgm
Yesterday 1 time, today i got puncture 2 times! Pressure was 50 psi! I don't get how is it possible. At first I punctured some chineese shit wangcheng 1.95" tube, I replaced it with Maxxis DOWNHILL 2.5" thick heavy tube and punctured it again! All punctures was on rear wheel, tyre Maxxis Holy Roller 2.4". Rim Alex Rims DX32. And all of them was "snake bite" type. I know that my technique not so good, but this is incredible. weirdoku
The maxxis downhill tube is probably from china anyway. You're probably just landing too hard or at an odd angle to get snake bites.
rocky111
single or dual ply? happens to the best of us if you hit a sharp wall wrong then the force can snake bite it Edited September 19, 2012 by rocky111
clerictgm
single or dual ply? happens to the best of us if you hit a sharp wall wrong then the force can snake bite it Holy Roller Dual Ply exists at all?
rocky111
oh yeah no probably not, was just thinking of my maxxis high roller dual play, it's so much thicker. it has definitely saved me a few pinch flats compared to my old single ply. Laurence--Trials
you need to learn to ride smoother mate!!
Blake
more psi, and those tyres are pretty thin.
clerictgm
On tyre written 30-65 psi, is it matter? Can I put 70-90 psi in it?
Ali C
without seeing you ride it's hard to give perfect advice, but maybe you could absorb more of the impact by bending your arms and legs more? I wouldn't go any harder psi otherwise your bike will ride very badly, I run 40psi and only get the occasional puncture.
Carlperkins
On tyre written 30-65 psi, is it matter? Can I put 70-90 psi in it? throw a vid up of you gapping or something will you? im interested in seeing how smooth you are. clerictgm
I found video of 68cm drop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJQrP35ylm8 That day when I got 2 punctures I dropped 90cm several times and it was ok.
Ali C
I don't think it was the drop that was the problem in that clip
N.Wood
Word, looked liek you smashed the backwheel into the wall pretty good on the way up.
clerictgm
Oh yeah, it's been 1st day on new bike. Pedal-up was terrible, I should work on stability. maybe you could absorb more of the impact by bending your arms and legs more? I Bending smoothly or rapidly? And legs must be tensed or rather relaxed?
Ali C
you went above the hight of the wall, then came down onto the corner, that's the sort of thing that will give you punctures.
williams
Does anyone of you actually think of that he might have something in his tyres cutting holes in the tube? Like glass. This is very usual, so check that!
N.Wood
Your drop off looked fine. Yeah possibly check your tyres for glass or protruding spokes etc. But that up to wall was almost 100% what causes them.
SamKidney
Know how your feeling. Im running a rear Fat Albert and a front Small Block 8, and if the pressures too low, I pinch flat the kenda doing sidehops o_0 Down to shit tubes though
stunt man t
have a look at the tube and where the punture is... and then work out what caused it, is it allways in the same place etc etc check the tyres, what state the tyre is in.. blah blah Edited September 21, 2012 by stunt man t
clerictgm
It's snakebite type of puncture - obviously caused by hitting tube between rim and obstacle. I think punctures was caused by landing on the bad angle, that happens rarely, because today I dropped few times from 90cm on lower pressure (40psi) and all fine. And yesterday puncture was from 40cm drop with 50psi in my tubes, lol! Edited September 21, 2012 by clerictgm
Carlperkins
a 40cm drop... with 50psi? and a pinch flat. you are deffinatley dropping too hard. maybe the higher psi is stretching the tube, making it thinner, and it punctures easier? maybe? dunno.. hypermobilty
you should be able to do a 40cm drop with 20psi and not get a puncture your either dropping way to hard or there is something in your Tyre take it off and run your fingers round just check if there is anything sharp in there
Jamie_Trials
Should be putting some talcum powder in there.
Ben Gosden
I think that once you have checked over your tyre chube and rim the only thing left is to test psi to find the right pressure for you but it could just be something simple like a rubbish thin tube or even a worn/dodgy tyre or you may even have a problem with your rim. ghostrider88
I would say the drop is where he realizes he got the puncture not where he actually gets it.
