Wireless Mouse Issues.

Bought one of these, stuck the receiver in. It did the usual 'found new software' etc etc and told me it had been installed correctly. Didn't work right off the bat so I installed the 'unifying software' where it told be to insert the receiver and press the next button when available, it never becomes available to press and I'm stuck at this point.

Tried it in another computer, works fine. When I put the receiver in the next button lit up right after it was said to have installed and working correctly.

I'm using Win 7. Ever tried it with a clean boot. Re-installed etc etc. Anyone got any ideas?

Tried them all. It installed drivers for them all too.

Had a look around. This seems to be for you, it said to do this if this doesn't work:

"If the issue continues to occur, test the mouse on a different computer in a different environment. If you can replicate the problem in a different environment, you may have a defective device. If this is the case, see the "More Information" section for information about how to contact Microsoft Supplemental Parts to obtain a replacement device.

If the device works without any issue on a different computer, go to method 4."

Test the mouse by using the Mousinfo diagnostic tool

The Mousinfo diagnostic tool is installed together with the IntelliPoint software. If you do not have this software, you cannot open the tool.

To install the IntelliPoint software, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK

Note This tool may not work with Bluetooth devices.

To open the Mousinfo tool, follow these steps.

  • Windows Vista or Windows 7
    • Click Start

      VistaStartButton.jpg .
    • Click All Programs.
    • Click Accessories.
    • Click Run.
    • In the Open box, type mousinfo, and then click OK.

    [*]Windows XP

    • Click Start.
    • Click Run.
    • In the Open box, type mousinfo.
    • Click OK.

Click the mouse buttons to check whether the button clicks are recognized as UP and DOWN commands in the tool. If the mouse buttons are not recognized, you may have a defective device. If this is the case, see the "More Information" section for information about how to contact Microsoft Supplemental Parts to obtain a replacement device. However, the best way to determine whether the device is defective or damaged is to try the device on a different computer.

That doesn't make too much sense to me. It says skip to Method 4 if the mouse is working in another computer, yet it says if the mouse buttons aren't recognized you have a defective device... which can't be true as it works in another computer. :S

The mouse works fine, just can't get it to connect with the receiver on this computer.

When It's installing the drivers, there's a bunch of dodgy 3rd party stuff showing up, I think this is the problem. I uninstalled the drivers and software but the words 'motionjoy' still exist on my laptop.

How can I get rid of it?
