craigjames
Was it rewelded or did you remove all the paint? I know Josh Kydds went there too; but his was used and abused for a far while. Did you get it brand new?
Ben Mortimer
Rewelded. And no second hand
CalRobbo341
Where was it rewelded? not like where in England, where on the frame?
Alex Dark
If it was second hand, then its not exactly surprising surely. Chances are it was cracked when you bought it.
craigjames
That'll be why then. You aren't the first to have them go there. And if it's been rewelded at the point there will be a heat affected zone that is likely to go again. Rewelded cracks can go instantly or last ages, depending on the alloy, where they are and who welded it. Bit of a bugger though.
rocky111
craigjames is right re-welding can cause stresses in the metal if done badly, there was probably hairline cracks in the metal when you got it. This post is bad timing for me as I'v just put up my fans frame for sale, which I'v had no problems with whatsoever.
clerictgm
After re-welding Al you must re-heat treat it. So easier to buy new frame. Edited September 8, 2012 by clerictgm
Ben Mortimer
Haha cheers guys. And sorry rocky111 :/Think i'm gonna go for a neon bow...
D Rock 45
It should be fine if the job has be done properly. I have a re-welded limey on the drive side in the same place near enough, not had a problem with it yet.
