AkuskaUK
Right, a friend pointed this out to me last night that the Skye no longer has the 4bolt mounts anymore... first they change the brakes and now remove the "maggie" mounts? What are they up to? Source: http://www.inspiredbicycles.com/inspired_skye_bike_p33.php
Lewis Gething
Disc suits the sort of riding the bike was designed for better than rim, Good move IMO

Matthew62
This is news why? They changed the brakes as Hope don't make the tech-trial anymore, and if we're being pedantic Hope never as such made the tech-trial....so really all the change is that they've used the new Trial-Zone calliper, which again if we're being pedantic is no different than the previous incarnation other than aesthetics (i.e. same pads, pistons, diameter etc). They've removed 4 bolt mount as a Magura would suck shit on a Skye, plus the fact they're shit anyway. I've never seen a Skye with maguras (excluding Dannys early ones with no disc brake mounts) and I can't imagine anyone would ever want to, so to me it's a very good move. They're not playing at anything - they're doing things right. Plus you do realise every mountain bike manufacturer updates their components from year to year on their bike ranges....well think of this current Skye as the 2013 model and it all just about makes sense hey.....? Sam Song
I think they should have both options for disc and rim. Why choose one when you can have both options open?
JDâ„¢
In which case they should also have V mounts on the underside of the stay a la 24uk right? What about bottle mounts just in case? Pannier racks? Suspension seat post? Don't buy a Skye if you want to run Magura, simple.
Matthew62
I think they should have both options for disc and rim. Why choose one when you can have both options open? Because discs are better in every way, especially for the type of riding a Skye is suited to. In addition to that it has much improved aesthetics. Anyway the full-build Fourplay bikes have never had 4 bolt mounts so what's the big deal?
Sam Nichols
I wish mine was sans magura mounts

More prone to damage , less suitable for right footed riders , easily contaminated ,spoke flex , don't hold as well on square edges , heavier so not quite better in every way and incase you haven't noticed they don't tend to work very well on the rear of 24/26" bikes in a tgs setup. It's not better in every way , it's better in some aspects , hs33/ v's are better at others. It's all personal opinion.

How is it less suitable to right footed riders? I ride right foot and have no issues. Easily contaminated? Unless you spray oil everywhere there shouldn't be an issue. Plus with disk you can ride whatever the weather. Spoke flex, on 24" not really worth worrying about. Why would flowy street riders need to hold on square edges, and my Hopes have just as much bite as my HS33s did. Weight? Inspired/street bikes weigh a ton so it doesn't really matter...We are talking street bikes, not TGS pogo sticks.

As we're talking about the Skye I thought it would have been obvious I wasn't even considering TGS riding.
