Wheeler
Hi there I have heard about putting water in brakes and that it works really well for trials, but I can only seem to find people doing it with maguras. Does anyone know if it will be ok in hope mini brakes? Cheers Ian
onza pro series guy
No!!! It will boil the water and leak form the seals as most disc brakes run DOT fluid
trials hoe
i had a water bled mini mono caliper and that was fine ( i did fit new seals) dunno how the lever will fare with water in it though, i was running it on a maggie lever. Jake.
Don't do it haha, discs heat up way easier than maguras.
Azarathal
Stick it on the rear brake and use the front to slow down, only using the rear for on/off trials moves you won't boil it.
dann2707
Just remember to tell people if you let them have a go on your bike. Nightmare!!
williams
it's possible to do, but I would highly avoid you from doing it.
SamKidney
If you value your brake, no.
bike_dummie
Just use dot it is just as thin as water and wont kill your brakes. People only use water as it is thinner than mineral oil therefore being a nicer feeling at the lever but this doesn't apply as Dot will give the same feeling due to it being very thin. Wheeler
Ok cheers for the replys I'll prob just stick with oil I think, it sound good but could be a nightmare
Revolver
Get hold of some DOT3, a google search tells it'a compatible and should be thinner.
Azarathal
I thought Dot5.1 is thinner than Dot4 which, if following a pattern would make Dot3 thicker?
bike_dummie
you will also need to flush the system out if you change the fluid as 2 types cannot mix.
dave33
It's wont boil, not at trials speeds! You can buy seals for mineral fluid for them, otherwise it will be ok for a couple of months until the seals swell
