LEON
Recently Live windows movie maker stopped working, it tells me to check pc capabilities etc, I've been told that it's probably a graphics driver that was changed on an update, but I don't know anything about drivers/workings of a pc, I've googled forever and a lot of people just never can fix it, so just give up. I'd like to get it back as it's so easy to use, and don't really have time to get used to using something else with the GET competition deadline looming. Anyone know a quick fix? Maybe a free/cheap movie maker that does AVCHD and quicktime files? Any help appreciated. Computer is an Acer aspire x1930, I've been to the driver download page on the site for my computer, I DL it and I just get a file full of dozens of other files, there's no instructions at all on the site and the Acer phone help is useless. Cheers.
Muel
Graphics driver stopping a program working? That's a new one lol... Sounds like bullshit to me. Have you tried uninstalling movie maker and reinstalling it again?
LEON
Yep, uninstalled & reinstalled 4 or 5 times, for both the 2011 & 2012 versions, no difference, it doesn't affect any other aspect of my computer, everything else is fine. I can download moviemaker 2.6, and I did, it works but it doesn't support any of the files I have to use so that's a no go. I just downloaded "Videopad" video editor, I'm trying it out now but it's pretty crap.
tomturd
If moviemaker can't read your files, try downloading the 'combined community codec pack'. I don't know how movie editing programmes work but it could help.
LEON
Ok I'll try that one, cheers.
Jake.
http://movies.blainesville.com/2010/05/installing-windows-movie-maker-60-on.html Best thing ever, I tried for ages to get WMM on windows 7. Never got a chance to use live as it never worked, but there's a link to the best website for windows 7 wmm, even includes extra transitions and edit options which is cool. LEON
Ah I've just downloaded it, you're right, wmm 6 is perfect! But it doesn't support any of my hd files Same problem as wmm 2.6. Does it just not support avchd & quicktime? I want to avoid converting each file I have but I might have to use Toms suggestion. Cheers anyway!
Jake.
Doesn't seem to like quicktime no, but it's been the best solution I've found for a windows 7 movie maker for everything else sorry. You could try camtasia studio? It's got a 30 day free trial.
tomturd
It's probably that your computer just doesn't have the right codecs to read the hd files. That codec pack should sort it out
LEON
my computer read them all no problem before movie maker stopped working. and they all still play in windows media player and this other movie maker I've tried. it is basically a fault that's well known with movie maker but they never bother to sort it. should this codec pack do anything to help this movie maker 6 play them? I'm off the computer at the moment so I can't check. cheers
