I had this problem, leave the tyre on with some pressure in it as it actually helps wrap the chain around the sprocket and put it in the vice clamping the chain rather than the sprocket dont just try to loosen it you can also try to tighten it as it can usually pop its way off due to it being on there for so long tightening it can actually loosen it by braking it free of its lock on the threads then you can loosen it :P Also this may sound daft but when i did it with my zoot the wheel was in the vice upside down so make sure your turning it the right way before ragging hell out of it :)

You could also use something like plusgas penetrating oil to work its way in.

I had this issue not too long ago, the first thing i tried was wrapping an spare chain around the sprocket and then clamping the rest of the chain fair tightly in a vice then twisting the wheel with left (if sprocket is on left side). However mine was too tight fixed to come off that easy so i tried heating the metal which in theory expands the sprocket loosening its grip (thread) on the hub and then re-trying the first method. If the sprocket is broken and you aren't fussed about damaging it further then you can always grind a tooth away and then grind yourself a ridge in that area then put some kind of sharpish edge into the ridge(something shaped similar to a flat ended screwdriver) and hitting the other side of your chosen object with a hammer and alot of force until it gives way. The are more methods but it should come off with at least one of these, Good luck :).
