Andeee
So i have noticed a lot of riders seem to be stepping up to the carbon bars hype. Although carbon is proved to be stronger than alloy as in example to the santa cruz bicycles test video. How does it effect with trials Yes it is a reinforced and light material but can they handle impact with trials? Am thinking of giving some a try but has anyone ever managed to snap some before? Will they hold my weight of 14.6 stone and cope for all types/levels of riding. I have even noticed Borisevich Pavel uses them ( tryalls) and i think does Neil T use the trialtech ones? Sorry if this seems a daft question. Edited August 29, 2012 by Andeee
ghostrider88
Based on your avi and vids they aren´t really suitable for you.
Andeee
So i come on here to ask a question on something i was unsure about . ( That is one reason what a forum is for right?) Hoping to get some good advice the moment i see your name saying you had replied to this topic straight away i gathered it was going to be a troll post you never change do you? Ghostrider88 seems to get the idea i am going to buy some when i clearly have not said i am. As i am only asking a question. In fact you really do irritate me when you like to judge people on there ability of riding and you also like to think you are always right. Baring in mind i am now at the age where i like to ride for the fun of it and i don't claim to be better than anyone else. I'd like to see some videos of you actually you seem to be all words on here judging by majority of your posts. The word "DICK" sums you up straight away... bike_dummie
He has a point and has answered your question. Why ask a question when your going to bite back at the answer you get even if its backed up with the fact he's seen videos of your riding? Either way I don't know how you ride but if your a bit of a basher/heavy rider I'd avoid them hence the reason I don't have any Edited August 29, 2012 by bike_dummie

As i am only asking a question. Um... Also - I thought you were a fan of the stronger, heavy parts from the old-school days? If that's the case, you'd be better off with some '06 Adamant bars or something akin. You'd be much better off financially, and psychologically, if you're worried about snapping them. Bars are one place I wouldn't want to skimp weight on. Y'know - the heavier bike you ride, the more of a man you are - or so I hear it told (admittedly, from a hugely unreliable source). Finally, you're very defensive about your riding - or it sounds like it from the "I hope you release a video". Do you actually realize what he was saying? You shouldn't run carbon bars for the same reason I shouldn't. We're both fat ass bashers, and we both fall off. If you gouge carbon, it can weaken it, and if it gets bad enough, snap off with either very little, or no warning whatsoever. When they do snap, the ends are very nasty. Much nastier than alloy. Whilst it could've been phrased more eloquently, he wasn't straight up saying "you're too shit to have carbon bars", which is what your reaction makes it sound like you think he said. All he said was that carbon bars are probably not for you.

craigjames
Andee, everything he said was true...... General consensus with carbon parts: If you're a basher- don't get them.If you crash a lot- don't get them. If you don't see yourself in those categories then go ahead and buy some, I've had mine for over 18 months and they're still going strong; for piece of mind I'll replace them when they get to 2 years old, but i'll do that with any bars. Now pipe down.
Andeee
For once that is possibly a positive bit of advice he has ever said.
Matthew_Gibson
I wouldn't trust myself with carbon bars, I think i'm too harsh. Over the past 18 month my riding has progressed. Bigger and a lot smoother. but I feel as though I'm still a fat basher.
SamKidney
Ive chosen not to run carbon bars just yet, I still fall too often. Maybe in a years time.
aener
I don't have a day job to quit, at the minute. I always give positive advice. It's just that you usually tend to see it as a personal attack instead. (That's excluding the times I'm sticking up for someone against one of your onslaughts of bullshit.)
Mark W
If you're a basher- don't get them.If you crash a lot- don't get them. I'd largely agree with that, although bearing in mind Cap's a full-on basher and hasn't managed to break his set yet, I'd say they are pretty strong. Definitely not for everyone, but I think a lot of riders could get away with them. I suppose the easiest way to check is if you look down at your current bars and they look ragged as hell, don't buy carbon bars

dave33
What's this the anti carbon club. It doesn't matter if you crash loads or are a basher. I have yet to see apair of decent carbon bars snap because of damage from crashing. If you don't snap alloy bars then you won't snap carbons.

And I've crashed on them more than I can remember, carbon bars are stronger than alloys until you make a hole/dent in them that'll damage the carbon weave underneath the resin or whatever is on the top layer.
