james311084
Currently upgrading my MAD Phase 1.3 Trials bike this week. Mods will be: Avid BB7 180mm front brake complete, Single gear conversion with bash guard, and quick release hubs. Pictures to follow when finished, then I can do some serious practicing
BurlyBox
I would recommend a new rear hub with a decent amount of engagement points for sure. On my 1.2 i now have a new hub and it made so much more difference because when pedal kicking about 1/4 - 1/2 of the kick i hadn't yet hit an engagement point to start to move. Lewis Gething
Fits in nicely with the thread topic though
Azarathal
Just a note on quick release, they aren't as trustworthy as bolts and they're weaker, not that great for trials.
ChrisTrials2012
Get a new bike, phases are shit. Unless you're super skilled there are better frames to be had
isitafox
You find me a better bike for a beginner at the price of a Phase brand new

isitafox
Hence the idea that it's a good bike to learn on. You can upgrade the wheels, cranks, bars and stem then when it comes time you can buy a new frame, swap all your bits over and rebuild the original parts back onto the frame to sell on. Nobody said it was an elite spec trials weapon and for the price nobody is going to expect that. Although Phatmike never seemed to have any trouble throwing his about when I see him!
