harmertrials
How you getting a headset onto that? I had no choice once but to chop and weld some 26" forks so that the maggy mounts lined up on 20". Worked a treat! Survived a 3 week roadtrip and are now retired in the shed

CalRobbo341
It may not be square when everything goes on, frame, headset, stem, putting more pressure on one point, forcing more stress points in one area forcing it to break, that may just be my thought though! bike_dummie
Not a very clever move and even so is that really worth 3days riding? You've also ruined any chances of getting any warranty on those forks. Edited August 16, 2012 by bike_dummie
CalopS
Cant see that going very well!
Ali C
I think it's unlikely to last 3 days riding as I think it's unlikely you'll actually be able to fit it to a bike.

I'm just waiting warranty replace of my ECHO Urban 2012 (that lasts me 7 weeks) and can't ride, so I was thinking maybe try this, but.. probably I better wait for new Urban. Dan_Trials
Let me get this straight, you want to replace a set of forks you broke because you didn't fit a crown race with a previously broken set that have weld where the crown race should be? clerictgm
I want to set this fork, that was cracked http://www.trials-fo...ecause-24-fork/ and now it's welded. I want to set it only for 3 days. These 3 days - I will wait for new ECHO Urban 2012 Silver, the same that I broke (lasts me only 7 weeks) few days ago http://www.trials-fo...than-2-months/. I was run destroyed Echo Urban 2012 WITHOUT the crown race as the shop where i bought it advised. And the shop agreed to replace it. And maybe I badly understand what written on tartys about crown race http://www.tartybike.../c40p11730.html But.. f*ck.. someone says that I must use crown race on Urban fork, someone that I should not. I'm confused. As I understand I must get an ECHO headset(45 degrees), but I don't want to spend extra money now. My headset is FSA 36 degrees. Could someone with arguments explain why I shoud use a crown race or not? Edited August 16, 2012 by clerictgm
Dan_Trials
Could someone with arguments explain why I shoud use a crown race or not? Because 36 degrees is not the same as 45 degrees.

Blake
Aaaaaaand? It causes the concentration of stress or what? Doesn't matter what it does, but it's not doing what it's meant to. If the company says don't run it unless your headset is 45 degrees you don't run one with 36 and then wonder why it snapped, same as if you get told not to touch a hot plate and when you do ask why it burns, because YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO!

clerictgm
Lol. I just have some fu.. freaking fun with our russian dealer. He send me THIS. And THIS.. I even can't set it up without spacers. Well we come to a deal: I pay extra money for Trialtech fork and when it comes (through carrier company) I send him back THIS. I don't know WTF is it, but he blames ECHO. And one more good thing - I'm no longer need to f*ck with angle of bearings.
craigjames
Can't see echo sending him a fork with a pre cut steerer?! at least you're finally getting a set of forks that will work.
