CalRobbo341
So, my steerer on my forks is rather short at 167mm at the shortest and 173mm at the highest point (sloped top) I can't run any stackers, and the top of the forks only just hits the top of the stem. I really want to be able to figure out a good height for my stem to sit at, but obvioulsy can't due to not being able to. Was speaking to Josh @ JAF Bikes about it and he said he would be able to do it, when he gets a lathe, I would also want my forks flatening at the top and would need the forks re-tapping, trialtechs with a starnut. I also seen on OTN, that it wasn't a good idea to run an extension, anyone run one on here? Thanks.
AdamR28
I've done one or two, only a small amount of extension though. How much do you think you'll need?
CalRobbo341
Was thinking around 20-30mm, could go up to 50mm, if I want, I think it may be too high though? But I do need to find the correct height.
Simpson
The problem with getting an extension (when I was looking) that to post the forks too and from a custom shop - £15 each way = £30 + custom work + the risk. Just works out easier getting new forks. You can get away with your steerer being a couple of cm off the top of your stem, I ran mine barely on the steerer for ages, it wobbled occasionally but............. was cheaper
Luke Rainbird
Who are you sending forks with to make it £15 each way?! With RM it's usually around a fiver including tracking/signatures, and another pound or two if you want to add insurance. Through somewhere like ParcelMonkey it's often even cheaper
