Martin Reynolds
U guyzz. This had better be down to ignorance/misunderstanding. Im ordering a 24" soon and dont want my urbans going the same way! In all seriousness, its hard to tell, but in the 3rd picture it doesn't look like its got thr 45 degree angle for the race. i cant see the angle of the headset effecting it, as long as the bearing is seated tight against the forks. CalopS
Its the shop you should be talking to really then if they advised you to not use a crown race with that headset.

Had a look on tarty, Ill be fine using a neon headset and 2012 forks, so alls good for me.
F.N.G
Glad I have the older versions! I heard the new ones are bad, and this back it up

F.N.G
In what sense? Well what I'm trying to say is that I have heard that most of the new echo urbans snap, so I'm glad that I have the older version because I have not heard of them braking yet. SamKidney
Mine better hadn't. Although if they do, there's always warranty to cover them, for a while.
isitafox
Tom you wouldn't snap a pair of Urbans unless you had a really severe crash or suddenly put on about 7 stone!
clerictgm
Its the shop you should be talking to really then if they advised you to not use a crown race with that headset. I spoke with this "consultant", that also an owner of this shop and also I created a topic at russian trials forum. And this man said "oh shit! you shouldn't start this topic, because it is bad for sales and reputation of the manufacturer (echo)..blah-blah-blah. they may not give you a new fork because of that blah=blah-blah.." Well, as I see he's interested only in fuскing profit and nothing else. And i'm 99% sure I don't get a new fork. Now I can get Inspired Fourplay fork for 109 GBP or Trialtech for 128 GBP and don't know what to choose. And also I think about switching to brakeless street-trials, maybe the question is stupid, but can you tell me the diffrence between brakeless pure trials(like Flipp's) and brakeless street-trials. How different it feels? Maybe there are some interesting things that not so obvious.
AndrewEH1
I've had both Trialtech and Inspired forks - both are very good. If you are more worried about weight better to go for the Trialtechs
CalopS
Get trialtechs. For some reason when I read Urban in the title of this thread I thought you meant there street bike, not just the fork For me I couldn't spin or bunny hop my mod which is why I got an Inspired. Going to have a wild stab in the dark here but I'd say 'pure trials' would be high bottom bracket, long stem etc and 'street trials' would be lower BB and short stem etc.

Flipps rig allows him to ride 'pure' trial a tad easier than on say, an inspired, but he can still ride streety too, very well. All about how you set it up. An inspired or equivalent is more of a streety frame, with a streety geometreys that make manuals and spins easier, but also allow 'pure' trials moves to be performed with relative ease. Look at TRA, he rides his hex both in street mode and full blown tgs. Very capable bikes.
clerictgm
Everything is fine, I will get the same new fork for free. But, one more time about crown race. My headset is FSA 36 degrees, I have some crown race that was fitted on my broken Because fork. So I just put it on new fork and all fine? And one more question - my friend use same fork with ECHO TR headset PLUS CROWN RACE. He must take crown race off, right? He already have a little dent on his fork in that place. CalopS
- Extra thick steerer now features an integrated crown race (45 degree - perfect for Echo SL headsets), reducing the stress riser at the bottom of the steerer tube. You must run a sealed bearing headset with 45 degree lower bearing with these forks and no crown race, or the warranty will be void.
F.N.G
Tom you wouldn't snap a pair of Urbans unless you had a really severe crash or suddenly put on about 7 stone! True that! I have still yet to break something haha
Sponge
So the fork broke early because a non-45 degree headset was used on it, and didn't have an integrated race to begin with? Any fork would die prematurely if it was used under those kinds of conditions.
