Spamming For Sales Threads.

i had a thread so badly spammed i had to close it and got a warning for telling troyston to stop acting like a knob for posting a comment telling me a headset i was selling was to much. Why do people do this? Just seen bradJohnson has had his thread dumped on as well? Have a bit of common sense and Pm someone instead of spoiling the thread? Furthermore don't put up unsubstantiated comments? An identical headset i sold went for 67 quid on ebay. Mine was up for 70! The forum is getting wrecked by these trolling keyboard warriors. Anyone else agree anything like that deserves an instant warning?

No it was overpriced end of. Considering you can buy them new for 75.

And you acted like a total dickcheese in that topic so of course we all got on your back about it. He did nothing wrong by that comment, in fact your response deserved a warning if anything.

murph82, I agree with you actually. If its too expensive then don't buy it. Lack of interest will bring the price down.

Another forum I'm on are very strict on their for sale section - to the point that if you even make an offer on something (when the buyer hasnt explicitly said they will accept offers) you'll get a suspension - no questions.

As usual, please use the report button before things get out of control or if someone is stickin their nose in, I don't peruse the for sale section much so I didn't see the thread until it was too late.

Clearly you've not tried selling something to have your thread filled with crap. I even had someone sell something in my thread the other day. I'm not arguing. It wasn't overpriced for the world that exists outside tf. (there is one). How is it not out of order posting an unsubstantiated comment that Will put off potential buyers. I didn't pluck the price out the air. I researched it! Hence i wasn't trying to rip a Noob off either. When your buying it's down to not to find out what the going value is anyway!

Tom i think that should be applied here. You don't get all this crap on singletrack or retro. The usergroup on here is clearly less mature. That's not a dig it's an obvious fact. Trials is more popular amongst younger riders and i think all the bandwagon jumping and spamming puts older riders off coming on here? There's no respect at all on here for users outside of the little cliques. And as for dickcheese, that sort of language is inappropriate being i got a warning for calling troyston a knob the other day when he actually was being one. All i asked is people stop spamming the thread potentially putting buyers off! Tom can decide that one, not going to bother reporting it.

I don't mind getting a warning for that. It's a forum for gods sake.

Funnily enough I actually agree with a lot of what you've just said. But your response to troyston didn't do you any favours and instantly gave people a bad impression of you.

It would have been better if he'd worded it more along the lines of "that headset seems a tad steep buddy, could you drop a little on it". We've all received these sorts of comments though, and frankly I think you were the immature one in this instance. But hey ho. It's done now.

It'll probably fetch near what you're after on eBay

like you say. It's a forum and invites opinion but that doesn't mean it's always right to put it forward in the open forum format. I'm not looking for a row. Just tired of looking at stuff sifting through bs comments and having them stuck my thread!

To be fair, whoever pointed out that the price was a bit steep didn't do it maliciously, but I seem to remember you reacted pretty strongly to it. Ignore it, report it (straight away) and ask for the post to be deleted in future before it gets out of hand. I'd prefer not to add new official rules just for one off cases like this, but I'll certainly try to keep an eye on the for sale section to avoid this situation in the future.

Or maybe it was meant as constructive criticism to help a fellow member sell his item more efficiently? Clearly he worded it pretty badly, but the sentiment seemed to be there. Overreacting to some criticism is almost as bad, if not moreso, than the original comment which would have been ignored if you'd not bitten so hard.

That there is constructive criticism, so I kind of expect you to overreact ;)

constructive criticism includes reasoning. The post in question did not. The same headset sold for 3 quid less than i was asking on Ebay? Just because no-one on here wanted to pay it doesn't mean it's not worth it. Like i mentioned earlier, there are communities outside of tf with older member who have more money to spend than the younger users on here.

The reason i started this thread is because I'm sure there are others who are tired of these goings on. It spoils my enjoyment of the forum at times. If people want to carry like that them that's up to them i guess, I'll just have to ask people don't troll at the start of my threads???

To be fair, if you don't like the price then don't buy it,

blah

blah

Well seeming i am looking to buy a Chris King headset, i am no way willing to spend 70 on a used one!

I will point out that a price is too high if i like too, there is nothing stopping me from doing so, and instead of coming back at me with a load of shite you could of had asked me why and I'd let you know, and probably bought it.

Simply put, and the last thing I'm going to say on this topic, Don't cry now son! :helmet: (Edit meh)

You sir are incredibly mis-informed/mis-guided/really not in touch with prices of second hand parts outside of TF. He is more than willing to advertise it at any price he wants, just because you believe that it isn't worth it doesn't mean that it's not.

I've had quite a few insulting offers for things I have sold and it's all come from younger riders with little money just low balling me. If the price is too high, don't buy it or just save until you can afford it. It's what everyone else has to do.

Dude, give it a god damn rest already

Sorry pal but did i start this thread? (Please dont take that in the wrong way)

I don't mean to sound like a cock, but I'm defending myself here.

There is no problem with me saying the price is waaaaaaaaay too high, i am after a king headset. So will get one for a fair price, if he wasn't so hostile about it, it would of went there and then, I'd of paid £50-£55 for it that night.

I'm sure alot of other sellers wouldn't of got on there high-horse about the comment and took it in the way it was meant.

I have read over some of the previous posts, and now to avoid all this again. Ill just steer clear of murphs threads.
