weirdoku
Here's a list of peripherals that's working or not working or how to get it to work on the pi. http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals
weirdoku
Double post, don't care. The acrylic case came, pretty nice, has some weak points though. One of the tips on the snap fit ends has already snapped trying to put it together and there's a crack on another place.
James Quigley
My Pi turned up today (bought on ebay for £40 with all leads as I didn't want to wait 16weeks). Got it running Raspbmc, mounted on the back of my monitor accessing media from my external HDD. using my iphone as a remote, so far it's a little clunky around the menus but once its streaming it's faultless. Great little silent media streamer!
weirdoku
Tried any 720p or 1080p stuff yet? Running smooth?
James Quigley
720p movies ran fine. Haven't tried 1080p. It does go quite sketchy if you try and access the menu or do anything when it's playing a video and the fast forward is a bit jumpy too. Absolutely no problem in just sticking a film on and letting it run.
JDâ„¢
Have you got anything 1080p to try out? It'd be good to hear some semi first hand experience before I think about getting one... No worries if not!
James Quigley
No, but I'm sure I could 'aquire' a movie and test it out later.....
Joe Aston
Anybody had any luck setting the pi up with a external USB hdd and running it as a nas. That's my main plane for mine. I have found a couple of walk throughs online but it gets a it complex rather quickly. Thanks Joe
omgnoseat
I've been wanting one for a while, but delivery time is so long Hope they crack the connection to ipad screens soon, would then be very doable to just buy a replacement ipad screen (about 40 pounds) and make your own raspberry pi tabletish thingy. JT!
I'd like to buy one of these and use it as a snes/megadrive emulator and connect it to a old style tv. Would that be possible?
Martin Reynolds
They're now offering the same package with twice the ram (now 512mb) for the same price

Greetings
Has anyone tried something like this? http://www.laptopmag.com/review/tablets/android-4.0-mini-pc.aspx I just want it for emails and internet on the telly which is hanging on the wall right in front of my bed. Presumably Android would be perfect for that?
manuel
it would, but no I/O no care...
Muel
I don't get it, it does have I/O? Any USB keyboard/mouse will work.
manuel
pins for programming. That's the whole point of the pi. The wee android thingmy is just a computer (made for profit I might add) and just a bit less interesting to me.
Muel
Ah I see, I didn't know they have pins. I'll take your word for it.

munkee
Ooo just saw this thread.. I've had my pi a few days now and currently running the following: Lighttpd Web Server mySql PHP CGI Webmin phpmyadmin.. etc etc. Owncloud - Dropbox replacement using my own passport hard drive (500gb). It works pretty good to be honest for opensource. http://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Owncloud-dropbox-clone/ Wordpress - For both myself to blog about projects and the missus has her own for other shit... Ampache - more for a test of streaming files across the net in a kind of internet radio way. Overall its not great so I will soon be replacing. BubbleUpNp coupled with Pulse Audio + Grenderer + MiniDLNA - I HIGHLY recommend getting stuck in to this if you do not want to get in to the xbmc area (I wanted more webserver orientated at first). Here is a brief guide of what you can expect http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/01/using-a-raspberry-pi-with-android-phones-for-media-streaming/. It takes some time to set up but honestly its incredible what you can do. VPN PPTP - I know pptp isnt the most secure but I have nothing to hide. The VPN is purely due to going away to a lot of different countries with work and its to be able to watch bbc iplayer etc http://blog.wellsb.com/post/29412820494/raspberry-pi-vpn-server Ordered a ton of parts the other night so I can start temperature data logging (not happy with my british gas monitor its shite). Also want to set up an LCD panel on the top of my pi box to stream updates from Gmail, twitter, facebook etc. There are also some very nifty projects out there using cashier style receipt printers http://www.adafruit.com/products/717 if you get a mention on twitter you can be notified by the printout. I have now also moved my root file system from the SD card to a kingston data traveller usb. The transfer speeds are slower (due to crap usb) but its nothing you really notice. The main reason for this is to ensure I do not get wiped out by corruption of the SD card which has happened a couple of times now. By moving the file system over you only need the SD card to do the initial boot and mounting of your drives. After that the usb handles the lot, plus USB's are so much cheaper than SDs Edited April 14, 2013 by munkee

David
Not really done anything with my Pi yet but thought I'd post a picture up. I was going to use it for running my Reprap software but gone off that idea for now.

David
Not sure I could say to be honest! I've been building it on and off for a couple of years...not even got it printing properly yet I'm awful at jumping between projects!
